Basstoy, I just had the same thing done to my 2000 Nomad. Part was only $16.00 and new rear tire $179.00. Total $653.00, it is the labor that kills you, and the tax.

No you would not use the kick stand unless you want. Adjust the bottom threads so when you back up it will ride right up on the stand. That way when you do back up and step on that wire looking part...

As you back up, put your foot on that wire...

As you back up, put your foot on that wire looking thing on the left side and it will ride up on the center stand. Then when you get on and put it in gear you can ride off.
