Ride to Medicine Park

Lyn and I decided to take a ride to one of our favorite places Medicine Park.
Its a little town snuggled in the Wichita Mountains about 90 miles south southwest of OKC. It was a great ride down the back roads of Oklahoma. Just out side of Cement on a hill (and Clear Day) you can see the Wichita's rising up beyond the prairie.
We arrived in Medicine park about 11:00 and noticed quite a bit of activity in the center of town but I was hungry and we headed to the Old Plantation for lunch

After lunch we went outside and noticed a small VW car show going on. So we walked down and had a look. Lyn was really impressed with the VW bus. We walked around a bit and saw some strange sites. Did I forget to mention that Medicine Park was voted the hippies place in Oklahoma.

After we left there we into the Wichita Mountain National Wildlife Refuge and up to the top of Mt Scott. Mt Scott is the highest peak in the range. It soars a blistering 2464 feet above sea level and has a 1000 feet circular climb to the top. Great for armature bicyclist and walkers but not much for us.... but it all we have.

We left there and took a ride through the refuge and to the information center to find some water (it was warm out there). on our way out we saw quite a few buffalo and longhorn cattle. Lyn wanted to get a pic but there were so many people trying to do the same thing we decided to pass for now and just head back.

So we said goodbye (for now) to Medicine Park gassed up and headed home

Looks like a good day. Did you get yourself a pair of those tye dye overalls?
Our weather is back to winter right now, so no riding up here. Really doesn't matter as the bike is apart for some general maintenance right now.
