Last week I got my Idaho jack adaptor, one of the best accessories buys that I've made.
I would like your help in correctly strapping down the bike to the jack. I'm not sure that I'm doing it right. ??? Pictures would help. Thanks inadvance.

Not sure if I will be much help but I would run a strap from the jack over the seat to the other side of the jack if it would stay steady without one.

I've only strapped mine down one time and that was a few years ago (with another bike) when I was removing the wheels and felt there may be too much pushing and pulling. Otherwise, for routine cleaning, etc., I never bother. The bike feels quite stable just resting on the jack stand. You might want to run your jack underneath and just barely raise it and then rock it a little. You'll see it would take a lot to tip it over. Also, if you have anything heavy in your rear bags, you might want to empty them since the rear end tends to be heavier than the front.

I have the idaho jack adapter and craftsman motorcycle jack.

I just run a tie down from the jack across the seat to the jack on the other side. Of course you have to loosen the strap while you are jacking. But it holds the bike sturdy, while I am working on it.

I use a floor jack to slightly lift the bike so I can get the motorcycle jack under the idaho jack. To me its easier than trying to drive up a ramp.

And bill is very used to being strapped down! Ooops, sorry bill, was that supposed to remain a secret? http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Yeah, it was a secret. But hey, I dont want people thinking I would stoop to messing around with a male social worker biker with over 700 negative karma's. That would be too strapped down, even for me. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I use two pieces of wood to get the bike up a little bit, then slide the jack under the Idaho adapter and jack it up. Strap it down when I'm going to be tugging or fussing a little. For cleaning, I usually don't strap it down.

Thanks everyone for your help. It does look sturdy sitting on the adaptor/jack. I'll only be using it for routine maintance and cleaning.
Would be nice to meet you guys/ladies at Custer but I can't make it this year. As the old Cub fan saying goes "WAIT 'TIL NEXT YEAR".
