The top plastic stud that goes thru the front side of my left side cover on my 08 Nomad snapped off, I do not know how or when.
I discovered it yesterday. What suggestions or ideas will work to replace the plastic with something more substantial, or any other suggestions to secure the front of the side cover so it does not go flying off, or go flapping in the wind.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I did not find any thing on Gadgets website about this.

You may have to replace the inner half of the left side storage area, which I think was around $85 the last time I checked, or maybe you could replace the broken piece with a bolt or something in place of the pin.

Desert Dog....here's a picture of how I fixed mine over a year ago.
Take a Dremel tool (or small file) and grind down the reinforcement wedge, drill hole (little smaller than bolt size) through what's left of the base of the broken pin (after you square it up if needed), install bolt and couple nuts (with loctite)....and you're good to go.

DkDixie:
That looks like it might work. I was thinking along those lines, but wanted to either talk to some one who had done it, or had different ideas of what to do.
I am thinking if I do that I will do both the top and bottom, because the bottom one will evenutally go.
Thanks

The bottom on mine may go at some point, but so far, holding up OK.

Have you tried calling Bike Bandit yet? I'm assuming you mean the rubber "tit" that goes into the rubber grommet ? I'd ask them to see if that part is available. It doesn't show on the microfiche but the grommet does. It may come as a set. Just a thought.

The plastic stud is moulded to the rest of the unit. So I don't think that is an option. I wish they would have put some type of metal stud in there. It would make things easier.

Thanks for the different ideas. I will think some on the subject and go from there. Good ideas, all of them.
Thanks again

dkdixie, that's a good idea! Only wish I'd known about it when I broke mine. I had just gotten the bike and went for the new replacement part for around $85.
A real stupid design, they sure could've done better.
