I took my first ride with my Chuckster's lowers.....WOW what a difference. No more wind up my jacket and no more buffeting my full face helmet. The bike seemed more stable as well.
One side benefit that I was not expecting was my exhaust note at cruising speed sure quieted down....no more thumping. That may have been helped by the Valkyrie tips but I am not sure because I did them both at the same time.
Idaho was nice enough to send me down his large lower pattern which I think look better than Chuckster's.....I tried making Idaho's but my finishing skills suck which is magnified by lack of patience (probably wasn't using the best tools either)...I am the same way with sheetrocking, carpentery, etc. I can build stuff to work but it never looks good..no finishing touch.
Don't worry Idaho....when I see the NW boys next week I will see if one of them is more skilled than I (not hard) and give the pattern to them. If not just let me know the next person you want me to send them to.
OK...keep in mind what I just told you about my skills above.
I installed the Valkyrie tips. They look nicer than stock but I kind of screwed them up. I pushed them on too hard and where the OEM pipes end it caused a slight "pimple" on each new tip. Not noticeable until you go looking for it and did it to both sides so it matches. If I had just lightly tapped the ends on until just snug
I might have prevented it...but no I had to pound the crap out of them so they don't fall off!
Still happy with the new look...it covers up my crappy finishing work from my debaffle...at least I am consistent! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif
