I fixed my saddlebags where they they can be left locked or unlocked (from Gadget's website) anyway, has anyone ever had a problem riding with them unlocked, I want to but I'm worried that with the twisting and vibration that they may pop open. Any input.

I did my right bag only. Wanted the easy access, and have had no problems. I has been almost a year and 4k miles and I very happy.

It shouldn't pop open if its latched properly, whether its locked or not. Its the latch that keeps the door closed.

Thanks All, I will ride with more confidence that they will not come open. Thanks again.

It's the first thing I did to my 08...6 months and 7000 miles not one problem. I LOVE IT! Hell, I've left the house went to work and back and then discovered I left the keys home the whole day.
I'd much rather you open up my bags and steal what you want then to break them too.

Mine have been that way for close to 30K mi. with no problems. I only lock them when I am on long trips at night. I don't have to look for the keys when I need things (like a rain suit).

Did you just swap out the tumbler?

Did you just swap out the tumbler?

It is a mod from Gadget's site:

I've never had any issues riding with mine unlocked. I sure like having that option.

To each his own, but I don't have a problem with the whole key issue. I leave my key in the ignition, except when I'm out and I've parked the bike. In that case, I just put the key in my pocket.

I take the key out to fill up with gas or to access the bags and then I put it back in the ignition.

Since it's only the bike key, I get no scratches and I never misplace the key and I don't have to worry about whether the bags are locked or unlocked.

I don't get the point of taking the key out while driving or of modifying the bag locks.
