My back has been killing me because my office chair (the one I am sitting in right now) sucks!
So I told the wife I was going on the hunt for a new one. I ended up at Office Depot....which conveniently is located next to Cycle Gear here in Vancouver USA.
I am in the car and notice a nice 2007 Red-Titanium 2007 Nomad parked in in the lot. So I go on the hunt for a new friend and KawaNOw member. I end up meeting a great Vietnam Veteran named Ed...looks alot like Santa Claus. Well we just have a great conversation for about an hour. Discussing anything from mods to rides.
He bought his Nomad 1-1/2 years ago and already has 42,000 miles on it! Loves it....after 30+ years of riding Harley's.
He and a few of his retired buddies ride all over the place! He is also a Patriot Guard Rider...it was interesting hearing how much better we treat our soldiers today than when he came home...not a surprise but it means so much more when you hear it from a vet that went through it.
Sounds like he does a lot of riding between Vancouver, Bellingham, and Montana (second home). He is also looking for a buddy to head to Florida soon.
Ed said he was at the recent big motorcycle event in Phoenix (not sure what it is called) Maybe Cactusjack noticed him? Ed said he saw 3-4 Nomads there (one black) so maybe it was CJ's? While in Phoenix Ed said he rode the new 1700 Voyager for almost an hour!
Ed is a big guy..probably 6'4 and about 250. He said he loved the new Voyager, comfortable and alot more power than his 1600. He said the gears "clunked" more than his 1600. I suspect he will buy one.
I gave him the KawaNOw info and my name/number but he doesn't use the internet but he would have his buddy show him the site.
He did show alot of interest in riding to Custer!
I am not a "gearhead" but I felt pretty smart showing him where the "secret" drain/screen plug is to change his oil...he thought that was cool. He has been using the "regular" drain plug since it was new.
I told him that is the kind of tips he can find on the sight along with some great members.
Hopefully we will hear from him...
