Flash I live in AUSTIN. I would suggest 290 west into Dripping Springs and turn left on hwy 12 into Wimberely. You can kill a whole day there looking around and shopping, drinking, etc. from there you can head out more into the hill country as far as your willing to go. I am out of town that weekend for a high school reunion or i would meet you.
Ride Easy.

I did a Hill Country ride a couple of months ago. I recommend a cruise thru Luckenbach, Comfort, Vanderpool, Leakey, Lost Maples State Park, Ranch Road 336. I plan to do that ride again. It is impressive.

I've tried to narrow something down for you... too many choices. All the above are great suggestions. Highlite a big circle from Austin with Lake Buchanan on top with Barksdale and Campwood to the West and Hwy 46 from Pipe Creek to New Braunfels as your bottom line.
Look at all the squiggly lines and take your pick. Favorites roads: Kerrvlille area;Hwy 16, 335,336,337,187,470,39,1340. Note there is a small gas station at the cross road of 83 and 41 and another in Hunt just in case. South of Pipe Creek on 1283 to Lakehills to go East on Park rd 37, is short but worth the ride usually include 46 from Pipecreek to Boerne (burny).
Austin area; 1431 from Cedar Park to Marble Falls, 2766 between Bee Cave and Johnson City.................
Flash,
Rather than tell you where to go and what to do, it might be best if you take a look at some of my Hill Country trip reports. I have route maps and local information included.
