Just kinda curious what MPG everyone is getting? Maybe mention what mods you have done as well.

Have not checked lately, but likely in the 34-37. Last summer on a couple trips, was a bit higher I think with less city riding.

I have been tracking my fuel purchases/consumption in a spreadsheet since my bike was a little over 1 month old. Since 11/16/07, here are the running stats:
# entries (fuel purchases): 155
Total gallons: 501.511
Total miles: 18207.3
MPG AVG: 36.305
Min MPG: 30.06
Max MPG: 50.72
Min PPG (price/gallon): $1.599
Max PPG (price/gallon): $4.699 (ouch!)
Max qty purchased: 4.579 gallons
I've filled up more than 155 times in that period, there's been a couple of times when I cleared the trip odometer like when I left the lights on and drained the battery, or when I've disconnected the battery for maintenance and forgot to note the mileage.
Yeah, I'm anal about stuff like this, that's why I work in IT.

I'm in IT too....but not quite that obsessed with tracking mileage http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I am stock all the way around except for debaffeling. I average 37 mpg. Today marked the first time I put over 5 gallons in the tank. I had 188 miles and put 5.029 gallons. My low fuel warning light had been on for about 15 miles.
31-34 but I skew the results with my 1500a
37 to 40, only thing done is V&H exhaust.

I'm getting somewhere around 30 if you take into account the odometer error. It calculates to about 32 mpg without correction. If I slow down to about 60 from 75, I can get 35+ mpg.

I usually measure the distance travelled between fillups, on my tripmeter. I had lows of 135 miles and a high of 202 miles. Most times I fill up at 180miles, on a 4.2 gallon tank.

I average around 36-38 mpg.
More when I am cruising, less when I am "playing".
I'm curious to see how much my mileage goes down with the trailer behind me.

No mods. Generally run close to the speed limit + 4. Average close to 40-42 most of the time.

I'm a pretty laid back rider.
I don't go much over the speed limit, unless Cindy gets ahead of me and then I have to try and keep up. :-[ http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
My bike is stock except for debaffle and I get 40-42 most of the time.
The only engine mod I think I may do is to try and get rid of the pinging I get when the weather is real hot.

On the highway, usually 36-37 MPG. That's with Roadhouse pipes, PC III, and Hypercharger.

My mileage depends a great deal on grin factor. The more grins the lower the mileage.

Consistantly 42 mpg with mixed riding. I always check using odometer when I fill up.
V&H Baggers, K&N filter left side, Cobra Fi2000 set 2,2,0.

New member. Only have about 1600 miles on my 2008, but I'm averaging about 30 mpg. All stock and use 89 octane. I see others talking about 35+ mpg and wonder if something is wrong.

I get about the same........ Same bike
I run her pretty hard though.]
Pete, Welcome to Kawanow. As our insightful member Refugio suggests, many of us are seeing a little better, up to 40+ (stock) but that is largely highway and easy riding. Can burn a lot pushing it around town.

Thanks, I asked the dealer when I had it in for service and the service manager said it was pretty standard. I moved up from a 900 that was getting 45 mpg riding about the same. I haven't really noticed much difference if I am around town, on the highway or even two up with the wife.

As some of you know Mac recently put on a Roadhouse exhaust (which I love), Dobeck TFI, and Cadman right side only intake. I'm now getting about 36 MPG after about 5 tank fills. Before the work was done I was getting about 38.
(Although I have to say when the work was first done, I was getting muscle spasms with my right hand and only got about 34 MPG).

Been averaging 41+ since installing Chuckster plate.
Have TFI and V&H pipes.
Mine seems to be a constant 33 with my trike kit on it, and riding two up. Going on a 400 mile trip second week of June mostly on interstate, so we will see if that helps.

I consistently average around 41-42 on the mountain back roads riding 2-up. When riding solo, it's more like 38-39 (wonder what causes that, http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif) http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif) I do have the V&H with the "original ultimate baffles", A set of "Torque cones", Techulison TFI (settings 2:45...3:30...1:30...8:30, Thunder intake dressed up "stealth style". Runs very strong, and have gotten 48 mpg while "grand-pa'ing it.
Over all average is about 40 +/- 1, when keeping up with it over a year's time.

It all depends on speed. I can run 85 and get 31 and I can run 50 or slower (like today) and I can get 47. 63,000 and it gets the same it did when I got it with 4,000 on it. On the average it gets 33-35.

Mileage varies. Today I rode up into the mountains north of Phoenix. I went from 1200' to 5000' and got 35.19 mpg. On the way back home, I got 42.01 mpg. Average speed was 65-70 mph.
Yesterday I did a 120 mile loop on the freeways around the valley. This was mostly flat, maybe 200' in elevation changes and averaging 65-70 mph. I got 39.93 mpg.

I get 30. Doesn't seem to matter where or how I ride, it doesn't change much. cadman, tfi, cobra duals. Got the same when it was stock. Fuel light comes on at 130 miles, starts cutting out at 150.

Just checked the mileage on my last fill:
Running: Bub pipes, PC III, and Hypercharger/KN filter
6 litres per 100 kilometers
47 miles per Imperial gallon
39 miles per US gallon
This was based on a mixture of highway and city driving, I would expect around 50 Imperial gallons on the highway cruising at around 120 km/hr

First ride on my new to me 2000 1500 FI Nomad without driveway running and without acceleration testing netted just under 40 mpg. It was a family ride 2-up through the low mountains of Ventura county.

Thats really close to what I get also, When I travel with a slower group once in a while the mileage gets even better, but then Im ready to fall asleep waiting for these guys.

Just got back from a 1,016 mile trip from Amarillo to Waco & back on my new 1700. I averaged 32.314 mpg for the trip with a high of 34.158 on the last leg. Cool, rainy day may have helped. The bike is completely stock and I would like to know how some of you ride to get the near 40 mpg's. I noticed that other than pipes not many mods have been made. I ride what I consider normally, don't ride all that hard but don't baby it. I'll be curious to hear. Thanks

I found this after searching for air kit installations and thought I would revive it. I recently rode from West Palm Beach around Lake Okeechobee with two groups of about 10 bikes each and got 43 mpg at 60 - 70 mph indicated. When I commute on I95 daily it is at a quicker pace and I drop to about 38 mpg. I have V&H baggers, a pcIII, and a metzler tire size upgrade on the rear(160/80/16).
My buddy rides an 09 Nomad, stock, and can't get better than 34 mpg. For a 6 speed that is not very impressive.

Just back from a Dallas to Big Bend trip of 1500+ miles. Average MPG 47, high was 58, low was 38. I use only the cheapest gas (89 octane). Riding along with a 55-60 speed, we were just enjoying the wide open spaces.

I'm glad to see that you revived this thread. I took a 6000 miles trip to Florida, up the east coast and back to Utah. I took detailed record during the whole trip.
Riding two up and with bags and pack fully loaded we had a high of 58 mpg and a low of 28 mpg. Average was 41 mpg.

Around 35 MPG. The Black Cougar is bone stock, no mods yet. I ride fast when I commute, 80-90 MPH on the HOV. We have separated HOVs in Virginia Beach and the police is focused on the single drivers using the HOV rather then their speed. Not to mention that the speed limit is unrealistic for the four lane HWY 64 - 55 MPH (traffic goes with 65) 65 on the HOV (traffic average speed is 75).
