I made myself go get the new ride today. It's about 45 to 50 deg. here it felt like 10 by the time I got home. The nomad is a huge difference from my sporty . quiet comfortable , like driving my recliner. This is going to be nice this summer. What is the first item to install on the new ride ?

Congrats on the new ride.
First item to install is hard to say, debaffle / Cobra or V&H pipes / Air Kit Caddmann mod, or new seat (Mustang or other). Jut depends on what you want out of the bike.
Have fun, the mods start now :)

Congrats on the new bike! I wish it would get 45-50 here so I could get my Nomad out for the spring!
As far as mods are concerned, pick which area you want to improve and go from there. Once you start, you won't be able to stop!

Congratulations on the new bike, I also would be happy with 45-50 degree weather. Hopefully soon we'll have it.

Congrats on the new ride! You're gonna love it!
Congratulations! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif As good as it feels now, with a few mods, you will indeed have what has been described here as "an 80 mph easy chair" http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif. For me, a seat and risers were the first mods, as comfort was my #1 prioity. Next came road pegs (again.....comfort), then the performance mods. Still working on that one. I was fortunate in that the previous owner had done a lot of the chrome bling and pretties already.
BUT!......the FIRST thing you need to get is a line of credit or a second mortgage. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif Enjoy, riding it or improving it...either one is good.

Congrats on the new ride. You can improve the comfort immediately with handlebar risers, Hwy pegs and an aftermarket seat...all of which there are plenty to choose from. Certain brands are favored by the riders here for various items, but for most you have choices.
So many mods...so little money...enjoy....and remember....we have a 12 step program available after you've become addicted... http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif!

Congrats on the new ride duneseven. Ya, lots of choices. The only limit is how fat your wallet is. Have no fear though, you'll never run out of things to buy.

http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gifWhatever you decide to do, research it here first. It will save you time and $$$$ (luggage rack anyone http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif). Go for the comfort stuff first. The bike is a beauty running just the way it is. I did 1500 miles in '06 and 3000 miles last summer and all I've done is have the oil changed. Lights, risers, pegs, seat, brake pedal have all be added. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

New horn (Strebel), additional front lighting (if you don't have any), pegs of your choice, Grasshopper back rest, risers of your choice (chuckster makes some good, inexpensive ones) ISO grips, larger lower deflectors, Throttle boss or throttle lock of your choice. I say think safety and visibility first, then comfort, then performance. JMHO

I agree with others....the first thing is comfort! New seat, backrest, highway pegs and pullback risers!!!

My first mod was a set of pipes. My next one will be the risers. I need them to pull back about 1" .
Just keep reading , and then ride it some more. Things will start coming to mind.

Still waiting for that long lost RICH aunt's estate. A second job would only cut into riding time.

Good going on the new ride. The only thing you would probably want to do first is de-baffle. Then ride it for a while, then you will know what stuff you want to put on it. It's a matter of individual tasting, and testing.
