basco: My dealer told me to only go with the power commander not Cobra, so don't know if that helps, I am thinking about one but have not bit it off yet.

THE POWER COMMANDER IS A LITTLE PRICY BUT IT IS NOT HARD AT ALL TO PROGRAM. YOU CAN DO IT AT YOUR COMMPUTER BEFOR YOU INSTALL IT OR DO IT ON THE BIKE WITH A LAPTOP. I AM NOT A COMPUTOR GEEK AND IT WAS EASY. SEE I CANT SPELL AND I STILL DID IT.

I must agree Spirello,
I went with the Power Commander, Vanes and Hines pipes and a K&N air filter on my 2006 Nomad.
I love the response and the programing was easy. :)

I think mellow hardly describes you Nico. I have V&H and they give it a deeper rumble than others which actually creates a more unique sound. They're loud enough for most.

My V&H baggers are the best mod I did on my bike. Good sound. Took a week to wipe the smile off my face. Do get the decelaration popping but oh well. MPG dropped a little but just a few. Want to add the Power Commader some day and k&N filter(hyperchg).

I dropped the goats bladder guttered my pipes put K&N filter on and as yet no need for any fuel management on mine but I run on 98 octane fuel,no ping and goes like the clappers.
Had to marble though to stop the popping and the sound is great.

Where do you find that super duper high octane?

Did the same thing to my 2000 Fi Nomad and run the same fuel ---- same result too. Cheaper than after market pipes and if asked by the police smile sweetly point at "Kawasaki" engravings on pipes and say standard exhausts....... You can buy 98 octane just about anywhere in Australia you do pay the extra though.

Hi Finky, No I haven't tried the Shell most of the bike tech types up here in Qld start any fuel /running problems with "you're not using Shell are you?" so I mostly stick to BP Ultimate seems to do the job pretty well.

I've got V&H baggers, stealth K&N/round air kit (per Gadget's fixit site) and a PC III with hub and LCD display. Had a dyno tune at Metric Tech in McKinney, TX and have 2 maps - one for mileage and one for power. Runs great. Highly recommend PC.

I was the same Tex only used the BP but could'nt get it one day so tried the Shell V Racing and use it all the time now no problems at all with the bike even in hot weather no ping at all.
The guy at the station said it was 100 octane same stuff the V8
super cars race on.

Finky - What do you have on your saddlebags above the strips. I thought about putting a small blue flame above my strips.

Will have to try the Shell stuff then ..... But got to say at this point my bike is running fine. I've only had it 2½ months though. First cruiser..... last bike CBR1100XX super blackbird...

There just small chrome flames I picked up at a truck stop over here does the job stops the keys scratching the bags.
The bull dogs on the side covers come from a Mack truck they suit the bike I recon.
