With the 1500 Nomads being out for 6 years, and the 1600 for going on 4 years, I'm just curious how ownership shakes out here.

How about the rest of you, how did you get to the one you have now?
Old biker, that bike color is cool!!!!! Bet it's faster than any color out there!!
I'm on my second 1500, great bikes. I do like the looks of the 1600, looks larger.

Bought me '03-1600 Classic used and it's gonna get sold as used again this spring. Bought the '06-1600 Nomad new late April '06, although the '07's were available then.
I've had several Harley's before going metric, and I've come to love this Nomad. That's right - Falling over love it!

Flash, Blue & Silver has always been faster than black.
Hey you blue and silver owners, that was my first choice in colors when I was looking. I got such a deal on my 02, I couldn't pass it up. I love the black and red that I have though. I went from a 97 Suzuki Intruder (first bike) to the 02 Nomad. Love the Nad!!
When I was taking my honda in to get new tires I saw a guy on blue and silver 1500. I loved the way it looked and sounded. He couldn't say enough good things about it. After that I started noticing all kinds of articles and write ups about the Nomad (mostly all positive) So I knew I wanted one and bought my '06 in January of '07 with 0 miles on it. I gave them my honda and I was out the door with a new nomad for $10,000.
I got my Nomad in June of 2005. My story can be read at: http://www.kawanow.org/about.htm

Had several bikes when I was younger. Got back into it in '06 with a new 650 Yamaha Silverado. Rode it for a year. It had enough power even two up. I know it would out accelerate my Nomad. But not large enough physically for two-up riding. We found that out when we rode to Americade ;)
Started looking for a bigger bike. I put all kinds of accessories on the 650. So when I came across the Nomad it looked like it had everything already on it that I wanted. I didn't know at the time I NEEDED spot lights , saddlebag top rails, a tach , a luggage rack , highway pegs , anyway, I traded the 650 for a new '07 1600 and haven't looked back, except when I'm passing cars and sitting at stoplights http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Purchased 2008 Nomad (red/blk-the fastest colors) in Nov. Sold a Harley to buy it. Toooooo many problems with the Harley. One of which left me on the side of the road. Bought it for all the wrong reasons.....mainly ego! Had to have one since all my riding buds were on Harley's
So far, after 1400 miles, really enjoying the Nomad. Now have to add on the neat little add-on goodies.

I had a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50T. Bought it last March and really had it decked out. (I have the chrome disease, although it's been in remission lately). Anyway, I liked the Suzi, but it's an entry-level cruiser and riding at 65 MPH, the engine was revving so high you'd think it was going to come apart. I started thinking of moving to a bigger bike. The Suzuki C90T was pretty much the same bike with a bigger engine. Star bikes weren't seriously considered because they are air-cooled and I live where 115 degrees isn't uncommon in the summer. I have too many friends riding HD, so I started looking at Kawasaki. When I saw the Nomad, with the hard bags, dual exhaust, and all the other amenities, I had to have one. Going from the Suzi to the Nomad was like going from a Toyota to a Lexus.

You're supposed to vote for your current bike, if if you own two right now, then vote for both of them.
I own a 04 1500 Blue/silver. I was lucky and found it at a dealer still new and untitled in Dec. of 06. It now has 8032 miles on it and all of them have been fun.
This gives me a chance to say hi to all as I am also a new member here.
I also ride a 02 orange GL 1800. They are two different bikes for two different kind of rides for me. When the boss (wife) goes along we take the Wing. Most of the time when I ride alone I take the Nomad.

The Nomad ( 2007 blk/silver) is my first bike ever. I purchased it from a dealer in Sept , used with 1500 miles on it. The previous owner traded it on a new wing. He said his wife liked the pillion seat better. ( go figure).
I picked the Nomad for the same reason as most of you, Liquid cooled, shaft drive, hard bags, etc. After 2500 miles this fall, I am getting used to it and believe I made a good choice. It will hold its own with any cruiser on the road and outshine most of them.
My son in law ( Harley rider) asked why I didn't get a Harley. I laughingly told him I couldn't afford the tools , trailer and other stuff necessary to ride one. He has yet to answer back.
He did call me a few weeks ago and wanted to know if I had a spark plug to fit his bike. He had fouled a plug out on the road and wanted me to bring him one. I told him just ride it back on the 3 good ones. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Really, I believe there are a lot of good bikes out there including the Harley's but the Nomad offers the best bang for the buck of any of them.
Ride safe, Shep

Absolutly no doubt in my mind Nico. That 650 would beat my Nomad in a quarter mile drag race, I'd put money on it. Maybe it's 'cause I bought the black and silver one. Everyone says they are the slowest http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I liked the 99 Red one well enough to put 63,000 miles on one, then bought another 99 Red with only 2,000 miles on it planning on starting the same process over again, then decided to bail out of that one because of the POG and no warranty.
I really loved the 99 red color combination though.

2005 1600 Nomad here. Snagged it for $9,995.00 brand spankin' new off the show floor. It sat there at the dealership for over 6 months until I bought it. Another week, and they (the dealership) were going to have to start paying rent on it. Talk about a sign I was meant to own it.

8200 miles? Heck, that's still brand new.
For some reason that reminds me of the '82 Goldwing the ex-father-in-law bought back in '93 for $500. It had only 10K miles on it, and had sat up in a garage unused for close to five years. Somehow one of the cylinders had frozen up on it, and the original owner never got it fixed. Probably one of those folks that wanted a big bike, but didn't realize, yeah, you gotta take care of those things. I can almost hear it now, "I don't know what happened to it. It was running fine until it locked up on me." Uhm, yeah, it'll do that. That's how things BREAK. Anyway, the ex-father-in-law happened to be mechanically inclined, got the cylinder freed up, fixed the bike up, removed the windshield and fairing, cleaned up the chrome, and painted it vermillion, and it looked like a big, fat Harley cruiser. I think he ended up selling it for around $3,000.

Love my '06 Green/Silver 1600 Nomad. Aeromac risers, ISO Grips, Brakeaway throttle lock, Driver backrest from DRIVERBACKREST.COM (fully adjustable, came along before grasshopper made them:( sorry man), spotlights, Luggage rack, KURY LOnghorn Dually pegs, and saddle bag rails(top). Sweet ride. Next plan is to have seat repacked with memory foam/gel packing. Wont change the look of "stock" and wont have to buy another backrest, which is a godsend. Anyone thinking of a backrest, get one, it makes a world of difference at the end of the ride.

$325 for a backrest is quite steep. That is a good part of the way to a new seat with a backrest.

Two years ago I went and looked at a 99 1500 Nomad with 9 K miles for sale. Could of bought it for 6,000. Gorgeous 2 tone green. I thought there was something wrong with the motor because it had some ticking noise. Now I know that was probably just the normal nature of the beast sound. I always loved the look of the Nomad and finally bought this 07 1600 back in August. Dave
