View Full Version : Scrolling Poll...........
It has been brought to my attention by several KawaNOW members over the past few weeks that they are having problems reading the posts because they have to scroll alot to the right due to too many pics lined up on footers. Since I have a 22" monitor and have my screen resolution over 1200, I never have noticed this. But, I realize that this can be a real problem for some.
I'm probably the biggest culprit, so before I start looking at policy changes as far as displaying footers in posts, I wanted to get some feedback from you guys.
Let me know what problems you are having, if any.
Thanks,
Trip

No problems here

I have to scroll right. It used to annoy me but I'm used to it now and don't really care. I have to scroll up & down anyway so what's a little left and right gonna hurt? :)

If they have large pictures in the text I have to scroll right, read and then scroll back left to finish reading. If they stay to you previous request on size of pic I don't have a problem. I think most of the scrolling I have done was on older threads. Just FYI. Hope this helps. ;)

Even the post(writing) is too horizontal, have to scroll right - left to read it all on my 21 incher. the pics are usually ok unless they have 3-5 pics? It's a problem. i enlarge it full screen but its still not formated right.

I use a lap top and have never had to scroll left or right and I like seeing the pictures in peoples posts.
No problems, using a couple different laptops and a 17" desk top. However, unrelated to any scroll problems, I tend to turn off pictures to compress info, of course then someone inserts a pic with no text to make a point and i need to turn them on again. May be trying to keep up with too many forums, might just retire here, and Wood Central.

I usually have to "speed scroll" past Nico's posts, but other than that no problem. :)

I have to scroll left and right to read some of the posts.
Trip, I see you dropped one of your pics in your sig. I wasn't having a problem with yours but a couple of the other posters have their pics in a horizontal line and it makes the post to wide to fit my screen.
I think JussMatt has four pics lined up like I am talking about. In his case it would be possible to put two on top and two below.
This would narrow it up.
Don't mean to be a whinner but it does annoy me. I will live with it if it isn't that big a deal to the majority.
I've been told before " The wants of the many override the needs of the few " or something like that. :-/
A OK here Trip but I have a 20 inch monitor
Have you ever set your resolution on your PC? You might try adjusting your resolution......that might help with the scrolling problem for some. Here's a way to check......if you are using Windows:
-Click on START, CONTROL PANEL, then DISPLAY.
- Under Display, go to the SETTINGS tab.
- Your display settings will be displayed in the left window under screen resolution.
- If your resolution is set at 640x480 or 800x600, you might try to sliding the bar to increase your resolution to 1024x768 or even higher. It depends on how high your video card in your PC will take it.
Here are the normal settings:
640x480
800x600
1024x768
1152x864
1280x1024
1360x768
1680x1050
The larger the resolution, the smaller the icons on your screen, thus enabling you to view more on your screen at one time. The size of your resolution is also controlled by what type of video card and driver you have in your PC.

The size just fixed itself about 8am Thursday. i was riding thur the forum when it clicked a few times and I could see the whole pages w/o scrolling including pics. I didnt touch anything. must have be a mouse on the other end maybe. Works for me now. :-)
No problems..use 1024X768 no matter what the monitor size and it does fine.

Yeah, right now the only one that makes mine too wide is Jon. He has three pics but they are just a touch wide when all lined up.

This must not be anything related to the website but rather to individual computer or browser settings. I have no problem on my laptop and most of the time don't even have the browser window expanded to full screen. Not sure where to look for the answer, just my observation. What we need is a computer geek.
OK....so, do I pronounce this situation healed, or do I need to make some policy on post footers?
topcat, I take it all is OK with you now? If it isn't let me know.
Trip
Can you resize the box on the left margin? The one where our names and info show? Could that help some of the left to right scrolling? My resolution is set at the highest my video card will allow and I still have to scroll left to right. Not a big deal, I can handle it. :)

Well Trip, since this poll, a lot of members have cut down on the number of pics in their signature and that has helped alot. I think kawgirl has a real good idea there. Resize the box on the left margin. Not much, just a touch. I think that would help also. You could do that and start a new poll to see how it affects everyone. I know there is nothing else you would rather be doing. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I use 4 different computers at various times to get on the forum and the resolution and screen sizes are all set up differently. If you gotta have the letters BIG in order to read the words...it will be BIG. I experimented in resizing my signature pictures to make my post more "user friendly" and I believe it made a big difference. The site is great. No problems.
Good idea on resizing the left box, Kawgirl and topcat, but I can't control the size of that box. It's actually controlled by the size resolution you have.
Since we've done some good with the footers, let's run for a while and see how things work???

Run? Did you say Run? I don't run unless something is chasing me.
OK we will see how it works now that people have cut back on the footers.
Thanks for your help and concern Trip. I love this site http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
