l think Aj must be having a bit of a workfest, one of his understudies is on holidays for a few weeks so he's probly enjoying the peace and quiet ;) ...when that pipelines finnished l think we better pump water from Melb up to the Murry l think the locals are starting to loose it...the only thing green up there is madcows bike :-/ is anyone going on the bushfire appeal ride on the weekend ?

madcow
03-30-2009, 06:33 AM
yeah you are right there wayne, i dont worry about hitting the lochusts anymore, they are too busy chasing the bike, they say they will eat anything green.... that pipeline is a bit of a hot topic up here at the moment. i can see it getting a lot more heated before its all done and dusted. i dont think i will make it for the bushfire ride but i mght go for a ride to wallan to a party on sunday.

you wont need a board wayne, just use your pannier lids. theres even a spare one for your passenger. or the windsheild makes a great longboard. they are an everthoughtfull mob at kawasaki......

sorry too many beers....

Hi Kids, I'm home!!
sorry been "very" busy, fire stuff is still a pill, debriefs, reviews, thankfully not much with the commission. Wayne, youre right, nice and quiet without LS (yeah right). Have had a bit of a look at a ride down the point end, about 3,5 hrs not including the 1hr ride down then 1hr back. Plenty of wineries/pubs and great scenery. Will post just after the rabbit has visited.

hey glen, sounds like a plan l'll meet a few of them on saturday and see what we can come up with, l met a bloke from Toora the other day where l used to live and he's opened up a sort of bike/car memorabilia cafe, l'll ride up there on Saturday aswell and check it out it would be about an hour and half solid ride from dandenong but he can cater from morning teas to private functions so l think it might be worth a look, and the south gippie hwy's a good little road to putt along http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

madcow

i came from binginwarri, and went to school in yarram, we had a farm on wonyip hill and another leasd property on tap tap rd, you might have even picked up our milk as we supplied the unigate factory in toora. dad also worked on the rigs for a while, but im not sure which one he was on. i have never cone back there since moving away, but would love to go back to have a look. no i wouldnt live there again either, its a s*@t hole compared to up here.

wgash
04-10-2009, 05:08 AM
yep l drove for unigate, l started on the snapper rigg and worked on the following five until the end, it would be good to speak to your dad because just about everyone l worked with there are now dead, l got a bit paranoid about it for awhile , seemed like l was going to someones funeral every six months but l was only 18 when l started and a lot of them a bit older..talk about small world, l hav'nt been back since l left either , so l'll find out tomorrow what its like http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

in case you are good with names, my dads name is milton hitchins, he is easily recognised as he has a bad speech imparement that makes him hard to understand. it dosent stop him loving a chat though.

wgash
04-10-2009, 05:28 AM
the name dos'nt ring a bell, but l'm useless remembering them l'd probably reconise his face though, having a speach prob down there was nothing ,there was some pretty hard core nutters working there from all over the globe, l think about 300 during the peak,it was one of those never do again jobs, l remember driving around in the floods near binginwarry behind yarram in the tanker with flood water over the headlights at night...had the heart going for awhile :)

madcow
04-10-2009, 05:39 AM
yeah i remember doing the same in a school bus, especially that little bridge across billy creek, you wouldnt be able to do that these days. it didnt take much for the creeks to flood.
that area is full of nutters but i think most of it is due to birth defects.... its hard when your mums your sister and your dads your uncle........... its all strange up in those hills

well l did the big back to toora thing and the only thing thats grown is the caravan park , looks good, my old house has vanished under a garage but everything else is the same, beautiful countryside though, l met doug who owns the Dougout as he calls it, he's a ulysses member as well, top bloke, if you can imagine a large shed decked out like a bike clubroom complete with a little bar and shower thats pretty much what it is, he's ok with people sleeping there overnight but you would have to bring your own sleeping gear like sleepinbag, pillow, wife, teddy ect for about 20.00 per person or just go for a looksee and meal/coffee its about 140 ks from dandenong, l took a few deture's going up there lang lang then phillip island but it took me 2 hrs to get home which is about the same distance from dandenong so it turns out to be a 4hr ride from dandy and back, but its something to keep in mind for the future http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

madcow
04-11-2009, 06:29 AM
sounds like a great kawanow ride for the future, just remember not to look at the women wayne, their brothers will get jealous. (actually i had better stop joking about that seeing as i was born down there.)

04-11-2009, 05:27 PM

its at shepparton kawasaki on benalla rd shepparton. if you want to ride you will have to ring and make a booking. they assured me that the nomad, voyager, classic and 900 vulcans will be there. it should be a great day, and its only a few hours up the hume. i would never part with mine either but its fun to window shop. hope to see you there, it would be good to makeback to back comparisons.
