ok, I'm putting on v & h pipes.. went for the first time to remove my left side cover..put in key turned it.. now if I'm reading it right, pull right (key) sides out towards you then push to the left to remove.. well.. mine is not pulling out on the right.. feels like it's still connected to something.. are these easy or do they take some ommph. just don't want to crack anything yet..

Without having my bike here, key directions I can't comment on. Once you turn the key the key side should free up and the cover pops off with minimal force on mine. You have to leave the key in the lock with it turned though. Maybe it is not turned enough and still catching the edge of the latch.

thats exactly what is happening, you turn the key but the little metal latch just doesnt quite clear the cut out. just wiggle left/right/up/down till right side of cover comes toward you a little. then in a quick push, push side cover to the left(front of bike)and it pops off rubber tips. DON'T pull out the left side of the cover after doing the key. Dont ask me how I know but they go SNAP!! :-)

The left side of the cover is held in place by the locking mechanism, the left side of the cover slides over a couple of pins the slip through rubber grommets on the cover. Try pushing the cover all the way to the right, then try your key again. Turn the key to the unlock position, pull the right side toward you a little, then slide the whole cover to the left to remove.
Mine also is hard. Impossible at first until I learned exactly what Doc explained. On Mine, when the key is turned all the way, the lock lever has moved slightly past the opening through which it must pass and so is locked again. I pull out on the right side of the cover and turn the key back and forth until that side pops loose. Then you carefully rotate it slightly and move it off to the left to get it off of the rubber plugs on the left side without snapping them.
I think it is the poorest/cheapest designed feature on the Nomad.
