My new bike, dudes! All these years of dreaming finally came true today. Man, she is awesome. We've had great weather here in Mississippi the last several weeks. Highs in the 60's and 70's, just perfect. Well, today when I got her home it was in the high 30's and misting pretty hard, with 20 mph wind. Just my luck. You other locals can agree (especially up in north Ms). Probably snowing up there. That didn't stop me from putting 75 miles on her. These are awesome machines. I was all decked out in leather from head to toe and didn't get cold at all. I'm sure I got some funny looks. What the hell is somebody riding in this kind of weather? I couldn't help it. It took me a while to get used to her. (My first bike). Like the dealer told me, I didn't get over 60 mph but man it was hard to hold her back. Don't think I ever made it to 5th gear. Anyway, tomorrow it supposed to be in the high 40's and sunny. I plan to ride most of the day. Got 45 years to catch up on. And the good thing is she's paid for. I kinda know what you guys are talking about when you say how great these bikes are. I think I could have rode all day she's so comfortable and she gets up to 60 before you can blink. Can't imaging anyone wanting anything bigger, stronger or faster? I appreciate all the info and replies I've gotten so far on this forum. Holler atcha later and happy riding!

Mucho congratulations!! Absolutely the nicest ride around. Take your time and get to know her slowly. Took me almost 3000 miles on each one of my bikes to really start to feel comfortable with the personalities of each. But, you will find it passes faster than you would think, so , again. Enjoy every mile for itself and don't push. Beleive me, you will have plenty of oportunities to do that. And just a heads up, as you adjust, each and every little change you make will make it feel almost like a new bike. So, when you make a change, unless it's really not right, give it a little time. And try not to make a lot of big changes at once.

Hey, go ride! And again, big congrats. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

She's a black '08 model. I took the MSF course and got my endorsement back in November. As far as starting out with such a big bike, I'm 6'2 and 235, and we here in Ms are kinda like Texans, we do everything big. And to tell you the truth, she feels like she fits me just perfect, rode for an hour and a half my first day with temps in the high 30's and pretty windy, felt like I could ride all day she's so comfortable. Woke up this morning with snow on the ground. Don't see too much of that around here. Thanks for the replies. Gotta go ride. Get pics as soon as I can figure out how.

Congrats Jamie. You will enjoy it even more with time. Does sound like the snow will set you back much. I'd suggest the advanced MSF course, it is specifically designed for getting riders oriented to their new (to them) bikes.

Congrats...and be prepared for some folks to ask you how you like that "Harley". I was sitting at a red light Thurs and fellow pulled up beside me in pickup and asked that....of course I said I like my 'Kawasaki Nomad' just fine. He goes 'oh - it sure looks like a Harley'. Duh....................... :-* :-* :-* :-*

Jamie, Congrats on the new ride. Please take the time to get to know her, especially before you start riding the Mrs. The bike is soooooooo perfect, that you'll feel invincible on it, but remember your on an 800 lb. beast. You'll have many miles, and years to enjoy your new scoot.
