Who has the Scootworks luggage rack or has made their own?
I have the templae for the side mount brackets but I do not know the space between the 2 to make the top plate,, and I still have 2 ft of snow around the shed,, I would like to cut all the metal and either chrome it or powder coat it before spring,, Im still out of work for at least 4/6 weeks or when the Doc says i can go back,,so I have alot of extra time .THANKs Rich

Radco, are you asking about the rack you mount a trunk on, like the wompus rack (witch scootworks sells)? I could get the dimensions off mine, but mine is a 1600, and I think they're different.

Rich,

Since your picture shows your bike with a luggage rack, I will assume you are referring to a rack to mount a trunk on? The Scootworks rack is a Wompus rack.

I am fabricating mine using tubes that will bolt in place of the stock backrest so that those nice grab bars remain in place. I will then form the "grid" of steel that the trunk will bolt to (rubber mounted of course). I will then weld in an angled gusset on each side for extra stability. Check out this discussion I had with Master Mac http://kawanow.proboards77.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=nomad&thread=8271&page=1

I am going to get rid of my back rest and rack , and install a trunk,, Idaho sent me a template of the side rails of the one he made,, So the Wompas or Scootworks one should be the same width between the rails..........THANKs I need a winter project.. Ill still be out of work at least a month.depending on what the Doc says next month........so Ill sand my trunk and get it ready for paint,, and get the rack done,,,,Rich

I made my own rack based on the Scootworks, and mounted the Scootworks Trunk/Backrest/Chrome Rack. I was sad to loose the stock passenger grab rails so made my own from polished stainless steel to replace them and was pleased with the result.http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h69/nomad1600/Trunkrack.jpg

Hi,
Just bought the luggage rack and trunk from Scootworks for a 1600, but haven't installed it yet. Between 13-15/16th and 14 inches between the side rails (inside) where they join the plate, depending on where I measure (front / middle / back.)

Hi Rich,
The top of the rack is 14-3/16 inches left to right and 10 inches front to back. Measuring the width of the rack between the rails (left to right) is between 13-15/16th and 14 inches (rails are just under 1/8" wide each).

I made this rack for a trunk. I wanted it to not look too odd if I took the trunk off every now and then.

I lowered the grab rails, which is very easy to do, so that the the trunk wouldn't be so high when it was mounted.
