I noticed the other day where Nightmare has 48 states in his map filled.

When questioned about it, he said he has ridden in all the the 48 mainland states. Wow!!

Does Nightmare hold the record for our members? ??? Speak up if you have ridden more; or if you are close to that number.

I would like to hear how anyone is able to have the time to do this -- just in case there is a trick or two I can steal! ;)

Personally; I am a bit weak in the map-coverage area yet; but sure would like to improve it sooner than later. :)

I think some folks are just marking the ones they've ridden their Nomad in, others not.

I'm working on riding in all lower 48.
I need to update my map as I have a few more to add now.

As you can see, my map is pretty weak. I would love to fill in a lot more, especially states in the southeast, as I have never traveled to that part of the country.

I confess! The map below shows the states covered on my old 650CSR.

I see five states I can add pretty handily in a short period of time this summer. Might have to Photoshop the map and put an N or something on the Nomad states perhaps???

I don't think anyone cares what bike anyone "rode" in the states; just that you actually had were riding a bike; and that its wheels touched the ground in that state before including it.

I can't say that I have ever heard of a "mileage-requirement" in a state before one should include it. If I am wrong; someone let me know.

What glwilson said. If you rode a bike, any bike, in the state no matter how many miles, it counts. I have 6 so far. Will probably add 3 or 4 more this summer.

I've been in 41 of them and enjoyed every minute of it. Some more then once or twice.

glwilson is correct......the states marked on your visited map should be states you've ridden in on a motorcycle. Doesn't necessarily have to be a Nomad.

Mine is still kinda weak....but with the National being in Custer this June, I'll be able to add three more states.

Ive done 11 states in the car and only 3 on the bike so far, but Im working on it. Here in Canada Ive never ridden the bike in another province as of yet. I guess I should work on that also. There is some beautiful scenery to see here too.

Only 4 on a bike and only 15 in a car. Man I have a lot of riding to to do!

Mine are all on a Nomad, but that is just because I didn't ride out of state on my other bikes.

I think any bike counts BUT NO CAR STATES!

When we (a few of us from the board) went to Durango, there was a temptation to go 30 more miles and color in New Mexico, then I decided that I want all my states colored in because I was really planning on riding in that state, not a touch the boarder and go back. Just my own satisfaction though, so I didn't do it.

I hope that they next Nomad I buy is on the east coast, and I get to ride it home. Perhaps a deal on one in Maine?

Now that I have a Nomad I do believe I will be wandering farther away from home.

My only big ride was a 3,800 mile solo ride. When I was over 2,000 miles from home I wanted to keep going, but knew I have to come back that far too.

The idea of buying a bike a long way from home, then just riding back vs there and back has a lot of appeal to me. You can see more area of the country if you did 4,000 miles home, rather than 2,000 miles out and 2,000 miles back.

Mine were all on the 13 bikes I've owned. All 41 of them.

Mine has been on the many of bikes I have owned thru the years, some of the jobs I had when I was young dealt with me traveling around the country to rallies by cycle. The other states that didnt cover came on as trips and wanting to be a vagabond for a time. After the national rally I will be adding Alaska, and some Canada, have already done the Mexico thing.

So far Nightmare is in first place with 48 states with Al Strauss "Chainsaw" in second with 41.

I'll tell you guys; that should make any of us jealous. First of all; many of us have not even driven in that many states in a car; let alone a motorcycle -- which we all know would be the absolute best way to go.

So... given my age... I am not likely to see as many states on a bike unless a few things would change quickly.

I do like Dan's idea though... buy a bike from the furthest distance you live and ride it back... the "long way home". (Couldn't resist a reference to Supertramp's song.)

Still giving Texas a thorough thrashing. 4-500mi day rides with a few overnites. So much to see and too much to do.

glwilson, like the old Nike saying goes "Just do it". I just started riding in late '07 and I plan to hit them all, good Lord willing, before I my trip here is through.

Crap Trip, Your's is weak?????? Heck, I have 4 states with about 25,000 miles on the bikes that I have owned. National Rally does nothing for me unless I really go out of my way. However, VROC reunion in Arkansas should gain me 4 states on that trip.

Kick-stand will be up coming this spring with intentions of adding as many more as possible to my list.

Agreed, and I am one of them. I used to have many more states marked since I have ridden a motorcycle in them but changed it to reflect only my Nomad travels.
I figured new bike, new list.

I'll second the motion. (any bike) My count stands at 22...all on my 01'
I haven't had the chance to take the new scoot out of state yet, but starting over for a new bike don't seem right to me. If you have been there on two, or even 3 wheels you have been there! And that my friends is something they can never take away from you.

I'd say what shouldn't count on the maps is any state that has NOT been ridden in on a motorcycle. IMO of course http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I did the 11 western (except Montana) all on the nomad. California and New Mexico were a border hop just to color the map in. Not too shabby for 2 years trying to juggle work and family obligations

schoeney, I don't why not. The excitement factor should count for something.

I only have 2 states plus Bermuda. You know, it is not easy to ride to Bermuda, maybe I should get extra credit.

Ah....so many States....so little time. I plan to add about 7 this summer between my ride to Custer and a ride to SoCal to umpire the WRLL baseball tourney in August. I have a feeling I am going to fry on that ride... http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif!

http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gifI have just 7 so far and those came in 2 summer trips. But then again they are western states. If I had ridden the same mileage back east I'd have twice as many. http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif
I plan to add 6 by the time I get home from the rally. 1200 miles from Washington to Custer and another 2600 to come home via Los Alamos, NM; Prescott, AZ; Vegas; Reno and up through Northern California, Oregon then home.
I'm tired just typing it. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif
