I do so like to see the pictures of your pride and joy. However....
It really is a pain in the ass to slide the screen back and forth to access the entire text of the posts. Especially on those that have a lot to say.
So if you have to ask if this makes your butt look big......
You Betcha! ;)
Please be considerate and downsize your sig pics.
There is a cure.[color=red:lnu74uw0] MY diplay resolution was set on 800 X 600 and that was MY problem. At Trips suggestion I bumped it up to 1024 X 768. Made it a whole lot better[/color:lnu74uw0]
Read the thread anyway.

Yes
If non-footer pictures can be kept no bigger than 640x480, everyone should be able to handle it fine. It's the pics that are larger that is killing everyone.
Rule of thumb:
Footer pics: Limit size to 400 resolution or less.
Pics in posts: 640x480 or less.
Trip
PS. If you can't resize your pics or don't know how, feel free to file attach them in an email to me at robert@hilliard.ws and I'll resize for you.

I've never had to scroll side to side until SWB put a bigger pic in his footer this week. Don't know if its smaller now or not, but it was a first.
I haven't changed mine for a long time, and last I asked nobody had to scroll.
How about the scrollers call out in a friendly way to who needs to get smaller. Do I?

Hard to pin down who the culprit is when there are more than a few possibilities.
Don't want to cry foul on every thread or offend my buds. Hence this thread.
Derry, I rhink the number of pics in your case is the problem. The sum total of the pictures set side by side exceeds the limitations of the smaller screens.
Dan, I'm missing the bottom half of your left fork in your third pic. However, every post is stretched when one is. Yours may be OK. If Derry fixes his we can critique yours. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif
Pooker, I feel for ya man. My computer went down and I had to go to Moms and use her dial-up. I could only do it once. It was easier to wait a couple days for mine to get fixed. Don't know how blessed you are till your high-speed is gone.

Derry , you are in bounds now. To be honest, I'd rather you ditch one pic or stack'em like our resident movie star than lose being able to actually see detail.
We don't, but I wish we had the option of clicking to enlarge (sig pics and avatar) but I can see it now... we'd have so many pics in our sig lines Pooker (dial-up) would die of old age before he got a peek. LOL. There would have to be limits.
Some people have a link to Photobucket or some such with pics to share in their sig line. I have enjoyed that option at times.
I have a 15" monitor and I'm still chopping pics on CJ, Dan and now Cadd2. I went to Full screen and it helped but marginally. It is not as bad as it was before Derry adjusted.
I am finding this thread very constructive and productive. I do appreciate your attempts to accommodate. Skeeter

I live in a rural area and had to wait for nearly five years to get DSL and man do I love it. The church had to get satelite service to have "high speed" and it's still not as fast as DSL. It's hard to think how many people in this country still only have dial up.

What is dial up??????
Dial up is an internet connection that uses your phone line to load. It is very slow and ties up your phone when you are signed on. I have a program called web accel installed on my computer so it is a little faster than my dial up system alone. I still can't view a lot of videos the guys post. I can't get high speed or DSL out here in the country where I live. i could get satellite by Hugesnet but it is to damn expensive for me. i will suffer through slow loading for now.

Hi Skeeter. Just a question I'd like to throw out. I have a 15" monitor also, and I rarely have to scroll sideways to see the all the posts and images. Are you by chance using an unusually large font in your internet settings?
If you are using Internet Explorer, if you click View, then scroll down to Text Size, are you set at Medium which I think is the default? If your settings are any larger, this may be the problem.
Just a guess on my part, but maybe worth a look?

Hey Darth, I've changed the font size up and down with no difference. I have somehow stumbled on some sort of a solution.
It is still a bit of a pita but it's a bit better than scrolling side to side all the time.
In the page settings above text size and encoding, are the zoom settings.
Kicked back to 75% and it goes to 3/4 screen so I'm not utilizing the entire monitor.
Then I had to kick the font size up to largest so I could read the text.
My typing has slowed down considerably as the font in the message box remains tiny and I have a hard time editing for mistakes. You might have to live with bad typing.
Have to change settimgs back to normal for all other browsing.

Screw that, leave your computer screen as it was, let the offenders change their sig pic size, it is NOT your computer or mine. It is the OVERSIZED sig pics that are the problem.

Yes, I was a culprit of the 4 pic scroll to the right because I used too large a pic. I've deleted one for now so there shouldn't be any problems. But let me know and I will use a small size.
Thanks for bringing this up though. Sometimes all of us forget that not everyone has DSL or cable and that these big pics can be disruptive.
I changed my font size and it made no difference.
Skeeter,
It's not really your font size, but your screen resolution. You may be set at 800x600 or smaller. Try 1028 or larger if you can.

I am also needing to scroll also for just a few but lots of scrolling on all the posts in the thread because of the couple that do have over sized sig lines. I use a 15" monitor, but keep in mind if it is a wide screen than one would have to scroll less. My text size is set to Medium also.

For those that need to change their Screen Resolution...
Go thru the Start button
then Control Panel
then double click Display
at the top of the box hit the Settings tab
Slide the bar to the right till you get desired #s
click OK and your screen will black out for a second and you'll get a box asking are you sure.
Click OK and the settings will stay. If you don't confirm the settings will revert to the old ones.

TC I no longer have a problem with the majority at my present resolution.
The one member I still have to scroll with does not post very much or at least not in the threads I frequent so it is not much of an issue. However if he will kneel while playing basketball I might have a chance to beat him. Or If he will adjust his sig pics I don't think this will be an issue anymore.
As for Schoeney, I was only teasing that his mug was in the way of the view.
Present resolution is 1024 X 768. It was very simple to change. I did bump up the text size a notch but that was easy too and I'm pretty handicapped when it comes to computers. I am sometimes too proud to ask and have to find things out the hard way. Trial and error.... mostly error.

Hey guys. You don't have to put your sig pics side by side. You can stack them by just putting a "carriage return" (the enter key) after the pic. For instance, if you want four sig pics you could stack them two over two. Put in the url for the first two, hit enter and then put in the next two. That way you can have a nice size pic without it getting real wide across the screen.

If those with too many or oversized pictures reduced them some than one wouldn't need to find a control panel or start button.
I find it interesting this thread is now 4 pages long and none of the people that have the long signature lines have posted here.
One of the things I learned in the MC community when I started riding with a club was respect. Out of respect you don't sit on another's bike without their invite. Same here as I see it. Respect those of us that can size our pictures to be friendly and not annoying to a lot of others. It is easier for them to downsize the pictures than for the rest of the community to try and change screen resolutions and scroll back and forth on every post because of one offender. We are not dis respecting those that want to have the pictures, and I love looking at them and the posting of pictures have been very helpful, I just don't like scrolling back and forth like so many others here.
Changing resolutions is compensating for a few that cause a larger group to be inconvienced. It makes more sense for the few to change their pictures so the larger group doesn't have to change computer settings.

With my screen resolution set at 1024 X 768 my issue of scrolling from side to side has been resolved with one exception.
After scanning thru all the new posts in general topics, I only found one that wouldn't fit. After experimenting with my resolution I exceded the point where I couldn't find the (X) button at the top of the page and still couldn't get the mans pictures completely on the page.
Changing your resolution to be able to view comfortably along with the majority seems like a reasonable concession.
I started out in this thread pointing fingers at others until someone pointed back with a solution.
