When comparing dealers, always ask for an out the door price. They can itemized freight, set up, tax, but the bottom line is what you need for comparison. Good deals on '07 leftovers if you can find them. Joe

If all goes well, I should be riding home on a new '07 Nomad on Saturday http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif. My dealer won't budge on the 'set up' fee, nor will he budge on the freight charge. They offered me $12,100, plus set up and freight, plus tax. Oh, and 'tires for life '..........I didn't price shop, so I honestly don't know how I did......But I'm happy!!!!! Isn't that what counts??
Good luck to ya Fish!, and wishing ya many happy (s)miles....... ;)

Last January, I negotiated a price of $10,477.00 plus taxes on a year old brand new Nomad. I was able to get three dealers to match that price. One was out of state, the original deal, then I got two instate dealers to match it. I also got the 4 year extended warranty for $390 at the time of purchase, and zero percent interest, zero down for a year.
The deals are out there, but maybe not at the dealer you went to.

Awesome job Dan!.......apparently, my dealer won't be happy 'til I mortgage the house ::). Not too sure that I'd be able to find a deal like that down here. After all, there's no ' off ' season in Florida......
BUT!.......I would be willing to go out of state to save a coupla grand!
Would anyone like to recommend a dealer? Should be interesting riding back to So.Flo. in a snow or ice storm! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

I couldn't wait for my new '05 and bought it in February just as they were hitting the showroom floor. All set up fees were in the base price. Only paid tax and extended warranty. Now I have been pleased with the extended warranty as I have had mine in the shop several times after the 2 years was up. Any deals you can find on a brand new year old bike is icing on the cake.

Here in Ontario they charge a PDI charge above the cost of the bike, not sure about freight, however in Quebec there are no extra charges

The tires for life part isn't a bad idea considering how easy it is to go through them. Are there special conditions though, like they have to wear out on their own and you can only run over things smaller than a grain of rice?
You might consider what Dan did. I paid 12 out the door with the install of V&H bagger pipes and the additional warranty because of pitting multiple dealers against each other. It's worth a shot.
I don't mind a dealer making a couple of bucks but I don't want to get takin over. one price I received is 12,399 and otd of 13600 for an 08

I looked on Cycle Trader.com and the lowest price for a new 07 Nomad right now is $10,399. There were plenty at $10,999.
With shipping only being about $700, you could have one at your door for $11,000 plus tax.
When I did it, I saved the shipping charge by getting local dealers to match it. If it didn't work for them, they wouldn't do it.
I was half expecting the dealer to sneak fees in, but there wasn't any. Mine was the $10,477, plus taxes (which are unavoidable), no other fees.

Strider... the place where I just got my '07 Nomad is a good place to deal with. Like somebody said earlier... there are some good deals out there on 2007's.... Wild West Honda in Katy, Texas is where I got mine. They're a Honda & Kawasaki dealer. Ask for "Bo" if you decide to call. I've been dealing with them for years since like a couple of guys on here, I used to ride a Shadow. When out looking for the wife a bike, I stop by another place around here called Team Mancuso PowerSports Southwest. (Send me a message if you need any contact info on any of the dealers) They had a couple of '07's left and were listing for around $11K or so + TTL. Texas isn't right around the corner..but taking a road trip on your new bike sure sounds nice to me!! Specially if you have the time.
If they won't budge on some the "Fees"...then you can try and push for them to throw in some freebies...or free modifications (grips, pipes, bags, etc...) Dealerships always have huge mark ups on Parts & Accessories merchendise...so maybe they'll budge there.
Best of luck... & Congratulations on the New Nomad... whatever/whenever it happens!!

I was always under the impression that "setup" fee's where paid to the dealer from the manufacturer. They are with auto's.
I'd be careful about the tires for life thing. I agree, look at the fine print.

Thanks everyone for such great responses and suggestions :).
flightdoc, gotta agree with you! The "tires for life" doesn't seem like a great deal in my opinion. Tires are free at 4500mi increments. Must be installed by the dealership service dept., labor is NOT free; Does not cover punctures......Not a very good deal in my opinion.
Honestly, I get two to three times the mileage on my Metzlers. Yes, my current bike is a coupla hunnerd lbs. lighter. But I expect to get far more than 4500 miles on the 'Nad tires. I was gonna pass on the tire gig, and maybe they'll throw in some accessories. Luggage rack and grips would suit me just fine http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif
Whadda you guys and gals think??

Check the EBAy market. There are many dealers listing bikes there. $9999 seems to be the going price for new '07

good advice offered here. Make sure you negotiate an out the door price. And remember, everything is negotiable. Just because the dealer has preprinted prep or freight on the paper doesn't mean you have to pay for it. I purchased my 07 Nad about 6 months ago for $11089.00. I then went to DMV and paid the taxes. The dealer always want to add notary fees etc.
