Well I finally got the fairing and tour pak back from the paint shop. It only took twice as long as they said it would, but I guess that's to be expected. I am very happy with the results, but still have some work to do. I need to find some red and gold pinstripe tape to match the rest of the bike. I also want to put a chrome luggage rack on the trunk and maybe some chrome of some sort on the back - it seems like a little too much solid blue from the back. I plugged all the extra openings in the fairing temporarily until I can get some gauges to fill them. I also need to make a cover for the radio since it is not water proof. Also added some Kuryakyn Dually pegs.

Looks good Scotty. Twice as long is worth it as long as they did a quality job. And it looks like they did!

What type of seat do you have on the nomad?

Looks like they did a wonder job on the paint. Yep, your seat does look really good and very easy on the butt. One of these days I hope I can sit on one to see if I want to spend the big bucks. The bike is looking great-----who needs an 09 to get the comfort? Looks like you've done it.

This might be a suggestion for your radio cover, it's from Overtons.com. an on-line marine supply store.

The paint LQQKS GOOD.

Sweet looking ride your getting together there. I like the paint layout and what you picked. It all looks real sweet with that seat, a chrome luggage rack and it will be one nice ride

Looks great man. Not much of a fairing guy but I like it. You mentioned too much blue on the back. I used a Kawasaki Nomad emblem I took off of my original back rest and used automotive tape to stick it directly in the center. Also, I used 2.5"Hx4"L LED lights on the back on either side of the logo. Ran the wiring underneath the carpet in the truck and bam, break/turn lights that Ray Charles could see. Looks good too.

I too have the issue of too much empty space but mine is on the side of the trunk. Probably gonna get some silver decals done up proffesionally and put them on to take up most of the space. That or some free hand grafix. Anyway...hope this helps some. Lata.

Scotty,
Very Nice!!! They did a great job.
One question, the windshield bag under the backrest, isn't that a little uncomfortable or does your wife not even notice it?

She hasn't said anything about it yet. If it bothers her I will take it off and get a back pad to put there.

Scotty, That looks really AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I see that you have an '06 or later trunk. Now that you got "TUNES" in the fairing, you could look into putting "tunes" coming from the trunk (true surround sound). These speaker pods from DRAGONFLY CYCLE CONCEPTS (http://www.dragonflycycleconcepts.com/speaker_pods.htm) work great.

And on the back, you could get a "NOMAD" emblem for a 1957 Chevy nomad

Great ideas - actually the rear speakers are already on my to do list. I just hadn't found a good source for them yet. Thanks for the link.

I lucked out with the seat - it was already on the bike when I bought it. It is the most comfortable seat I have ever had - even beats the Mustang I had on my last bike. Be careful - if you ever do get a chance to sit on one, you will have to buy it.

Hey Scotty - when you find a radio cover that works let me know - I have the risers on mine and the cover that came with the Premeux fairing doesn't work with mine - had to remove the cover completely. Really need that cover!!!

I have looked at several of the covers available for marine use and none of them will work for me. The bottom of the radio opening is right up against the risers, so there is just no room. I am probably going to have to custom fabricate one.

It's not a Wompus - I built it myself, so it may be a little bigger. I have a tendency to overbuild things. It will definetly hold anything I want to put on it though. I can't say for sure about the Wompus as I have never actually seen one, but I believe it should work with about any trunk. Maybe someone with personal experience will chime in here.

Borto1990, I have a Wompus rack. First I had a Yamaha Venture trunk on it '(89 model). Now I have a '02 Harley Ultra trunk on it. You have to position the trunk where you want it, then mark and drill the mounting holes. It is strong and well made, but now they are starting to get a little pricey, when I got mine, they were pretty reasonable.

I have the cover from Hoppe that they use on their Quadzilla. You have to completely cut the Premuix radio box out of the fairing. Then if you have done it carefully the Hoppe one attaches with rivets to the front of the fairing face( the indented part). I made a vee-block of wood to support the new radio insert and fiberglassed eveything in. I my opinion it looks sweet and works real good! The radio cover retracts into itself so there is nothing flipping out and near the risers. It may be too much work for some people but for me the stock flip and all of the other ones I looked at just didn't cut it or got in the wat of the risers!

I didn't like the look of a cover for the radio so I decided not to put any!
I've been caught in major downpour and even did 800 kilometer ride in constant rain. radio works fine and had no problem with the water.
The radio is installed in an angle in the fairing, the water if any, drains out by itself.
