mtn 1600 asked about interest in a ride here in Colorado today, and Ells and I took him up on it.

It was mid 50's for temps and hadn't snowed for a week, so conditions were great. We met up in Morrison Colorado and headed for Deckers, going south by way of Sadelia.

Then from Sadelia headed up into the mountains.

At the top we hit the gravel/mud road and ventured 1/4 mile on it before regaining our senses and backtracking to Sadelia.

When we got to Sadelia Ells pulled us into a bar/restaurant where all the bikes were parked for lunch and a chance to talk. I don't know why all the bikes were there, on the road from Sadelia up into the mountains we didn't pass any other bikes. Must have been bikes just headed down the highway.
We went inside and had a good talk about all the rest of you over lunch :)

In the parking lot after, I got a chance to try Leo's car tire equipped bike. I could tell a small difference in cornering, but slight enough to get used to in a short time and probably never notice again.
We compared bike mods, Leo already has his cruise control done. I liked the way their lower driving lights made them stand out in the mirror. Take a look in the mirror shots above.

We hit the road and split off at E470, Ells and Leo went west and I went east back to Denver.

It was a good ride, some slush in a few corners up in the mountains, but very doable. Out on the plains roads were as good as can be. I had a great time going out for my first get out of town ride this winter.

You guys didn't happen to eat at Bud's Cafe & Bar in Sedalia, did you? They make a mean burger there.

Was a great ride but too bad it was cut short by running out of good road. Could have ventured a little further but turning around was the right thing to do, bike were getting dirty. That car tire on mtn1600's (Leo's) was best suited for that road. Also noticed that it kicked up a lot more dust on the dry road than Dan's, lots of rubber on the road with that tire.

BTW, Dan resisted temptation to ride his out into the middle of a snow covered field just to get a picture of it, not sure what he might do today though. Going to be a another fine day for a ride here.

CJ, Not sure of the name of the place in Sedalia, was right on the corner of main street (such as it is) and the Highway (85). I had a burger and it probably was your joint.

Hey Ells and Leo, it only takes $3 at the car wash to get all the mud off :)

It was packed into the rectifier pretty good.

Thanks for sharing. Those lights do stand out. Might need to do those as well.
