View Full Version : Florida Meet-up?

coacha

Would any of the Florida members like to meet up some Saturday or Sunday for a lunch ride in? I realize some are from the panhandle and some from the south, so we would have to work on a place and time to meet to try to get as many as we could there.

Let me know something and we can do plan it out.

Sounds like Sebring may be a good place ;)

MikeInFla
01-08-2009, 08:43 PM
I'm up for any place.

Sunday's are prefered but not a deal breaker.

I'm tied up this weekend and Valentines weekend, otherwise I'm open.

Maybe the last weekend of January? How does that sound?

Maybe we can get some of the other riders in the central area of the state to go too.

MikeInFla
01-08-2009, 09:23 PM
Works for me.

mrfuni
01-08-2009, 10:17 PM
My schedule is up in the air until I see the hand surgeon Monday... :( :( :(

coacha
01-08-2009, 10:55 PM
Well, you can always "cage" it Joe...and bring the lovely bride!

mrfuni
01-09-2009, 06:53 AM
Cage it... I can do that...

dabull
01-09-2009, 07:08 PM
unable from the NW end-o-Florida:(

coacha
01-09-2009, 08:54 PM
Well, we can do one up that way maybe in March. That is the one thing about our state, it is so dang long from Northwest to Southeast. Difficult to get a spot that everyone can get to that is reasonable with doing an overnighter.

dabull
01-09-2009, 09:29 PM
i hear ya bro;) it doesn't help that I so far west....

mrfuni
01-09-2009, 10:14 PM
And I'm so far south. Every trip I go on I'm usually the one who logs the most miles...

coacha
01-09-2009, 10:25 PM
That is because your area of the state has two things...flat land and swamps, lol.

MikeInFla
01-10-2009, 07:24 AM
It's not a long ride for Coach and I but would you guys prefer to do something in the middle of the state?

mrfuni
01-10-2009, 07:49 AM
I don't mind coming North. Only reason why you'd ride down this far south is if you want to go to the Keys. Like Coach said...Flat and swamps...

MikeInFla
01-10-2009, 03:32 PM
so I was looking at Google maps. I used Dabull's city and Joe's city as the most northern and southern points.

Half way is somewhere between Ocala and Gainesville.

How does that sound to everyone?

mrfuni
01-10-2009, 03:59 PM
Ocala is pretty, Gainesville is heaven (Go Gators!)...

So if that's the central location, it's at Coach's place :)

coacha
01-10-2009, 08:16 PM
that sounds ok to me.

dabull
01-10-2009, 09:16 PM
Hi ya'll, I appreciate the consideration....I will be unable to attend...recommend you fall back to your previous plan which suits more of ya'll central/south floridians;)

MikeInFla
01-14-2009, 05:50 AM
Thanks Derry for letting us know.

Unless we hear from anyone else from the north, I think heading to Sebring would still be a good idea.

mrfuni
01-14-2009, 06:23 AM
Sebring works for me...

coacha
01-14-2009, 09:07 AM
Is February 7th a good date? I have to be at RayJay on Jan 25 with some football players for a Under Armour competition.

MikeInFla
01-14-2009, 09:55 AM
I have to work that weekend.

Natalie and I are in Orlando Feb 14th weekend also.

coacha
01-14-2009, 10:16 AM
Mike can you do the 24th?

MikeInFla
01-14-2009, 07:55 PM
Can we do the 25th? Natalie works on Saturday.

I thought you had wrestling on Saturday's with the kids.

Hey Coacha, It would be great to get together. lol by the way I don't know what happened but this is Eric we met at the ST riders club lunch by the lake.
back to the ride in, the 25th works for me.

coacha
01-18-2009, 10:03 PM
Hey Eric.

We are off on the 24th, tournament got canceled. The 25th I have to be at Raymond James Stadium for a competition with my kids (football). I don't know when it starts, it may be in the evening. Or maybe I can get another coach to take the kids.

mrfuni
01-19-2009, 06:57 AM
Coach,
Katie's Swamp Cabbage Festival is the 21st and 22nd (Saturday and Sunday)...Hopefully I can ride by then..Maybe you can come down for that..
25th is a Wednesday, and some of us still work for a living.

MikeInFla
01-19-2009, 07:55 AM
Joe,

The 24th & 25th is this coming weekend. Maybe you looking at February http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

Coach, I guess the day is up to you. Let us know the official word.

Does any one knows of a good place in Sebring to have lunch? The only place I've been to down there is RJ Gators, thats was pretty good.

Mike.

mrfuni
01-19-2009, 11:31 AM
Sorry Mike, yes I was looking at February...

I'd suggest Sonny's Real Pit Bar-b-que, but I can't make it... :(

MikeInFla
01-19-2009, 11:47 AM
You can't make it? Oh man... sorry to hear that.

Do you think you can plan a different day for us to ride down that way?

mrfuni
01-19-2009, 12:40 PM
Mike...I leave for London on Wednesday, then when I return I have to have surgery on my wrist. Don't know how long I'll be off the bike, but I'd say proabably anytime after the 21st of February may work.

coacha
01-20-2009, 07:09 PM
Ok, lets do a ride on Sunday, Jan 25 to someplace in the center of the state for a noon time lunch. I have to be back to school by 3.

MikeInFla
01-21-2009, 08:51 AM
Coach,

That sounds good to us. We needed to stop at the Chrome Shop in Wildwood sometime this weekend anyway to get some lights for the trailer.

Where would you like to meet up?

How about Emily's on US 19 in Homosassa? Unless you have something else in mind.

coacha
01-21-2009, 06:46 PM
That sounds good. Like I said, I have to be back and at school around 3. We can meet at Emily's around 8, eat some breakfast and then head somewhere, stop for some lunch maybe and head back toward the coast.

MikeInFla
01-21-2009, 07:01 PM
Ron,

We can meet you by 9, we have something to do early in the morning.

coacha
01-21-2009, 09:33 PM
Cool beans. Sounds like a plan. Emily's is a nice place and I'm good friends with the owners. We'll get there and get a table for 4.

If anyone else would like to join us, let me know.

jmilucky
02-16-2009, 08:54 AM
well, I don't know if I missed this meet in January or if this is February 21/22. If it's February 21/22 in Sebring I'll plan a trip that way. Jim

MikeInFla
03-25-2009, 11:21 AM
Lets try this again....

I'm going to throw April 5th out there and see if it sticks.

Please let me know who is interested in meeting up for lunch or riding that day. Depending on where everyone comes from we can try to find a central location.

Mike.

Wayne, my wife and I are babysitting from Friday thru Saturday night. We'll be leaving Ft Lauderdale (actually Sunrise) and heading home sometime Sunday a.m., but we'll be in the car.

I'd be happy to ride with you if I were on the bike.

Sonny's in Sebring is easy to find. Just head out 595 to U.S. 27 and take a right. Head north for about 130 miles. Sonny's is on the left, across from lake Jackson.

The towns you'll go thru are South Bay (watch the speed limits), Clewiston, Moore Haven, and Lake Placid. The longest stretch is to get to South Bay from 595.
