KawaNOW member Stretch from Illinois will be in town for a few days and has some spare time on Sunday, January 18th. I told him if he could get his hands on a bike, I'd meet up with him and we'd go for a ride. He's arranged for a rental bike, so If anyone in the Phoenix area wants to join us, let me know.

Since Stretch will be staying on the west side of Phoenix, I was thinking maybe a run to Wickenburg, then up 93 and either turn and go up Yarnell Hill to Prescott or Bagdad might be fun. If the weather is going to be chilly, maybe we could head south through Gila Bend instead.

Pm me if interested.

Yeah, what's up with that? http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I'm on call this weekend, so if I do any riding, it will be close to home. Its supposed to be in the 70's, too. :-[

Stretch, Arizona has a little problem with photo radar. The DPS really love their mobile units. They freely admit it isn't for safety, they want money. Today I went to Flagstaff and back (in the cage). Seven photo units on the way up, five on the way back. The freeways throughout the Phoenix area are littered with these guys. Several north and southbound, fixed and mobile, from your hotel to the HD dealership. They especially like to hang out where speed limits change from 65 to 55 with little or no warning. Pay attention so you don't get a photograph in the mail asking for money later. Yes, they really do go after out of state drivers, even in rental vehicles.

Mark is correct. Our illustrious, soon-to-be-former (thank you, president-elect Obama!) Governor felt that photo traffic enforcement would generate enough revenue to pull the state out a $1 billion revenue shortfall. These cameras are all over the place. Many are mobile so you never know where they'll be.

Thanks guys for the warning. It looks like I will be heading up 101 to pick up the bike. How is that road for traffic on a Saturday afternoon? I was looking at the maps and I cannot believe that the metro area is that spread out! I'm just a small town hick. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Light traffic. That is why we warned you to watch your speed.

When my family moved down here from Salt Lake City, we entered the Valley through Wickenburg. It was late at night, and my kids caught their first glimpse of the city lights spread out in front of us. They "thought" we were close to our hotel in Mesa. We still had 90 miles to go. This place is really big.

That's chump change Scott. Come to California where the elected MORONS have us in a $40,000,000,000.00 (that's 40 billion dollars) deficit this next year alone. The sad thing about it, nobody has a clue how to stop the bleeding....-Rich

That's a lot of money! How will they ever get out of that mess? Our Governor is going to prison, maybe. I think CA should be looking at that option also if they can't manage the state fund any better than that.

California should start a bank and just get bail out money and be home free!

The Governor thought when he was forecasting the budget for the future that the increase in housing prices would continue and the property tax revenue from that would just keep climbing and going into the Treasury!! OOPS!!

Now he's asking to cut my salary 10% along with every other state employee! Gee Gov.....thanks for spreading the wealth!!!!

Brad,

Are still working with all the nuts? From what you've told me about the job you had before, why does the state not go after all the fraud in the workman's comp? Just about everyone that I've ever seen out on "workman's comp" are milking it.
