I picked up my bike yesterday afternoon (Saturday). Drove it by trailer to Maryland, straight to my local Kawasaki dealer for a state inspection.
It actually failed on one item, but they passed me on the promise that I return to have it repaired this coming week. The PO had the riding lights set to turn on only with the high beams. That is a no no here in Maryland. So, tomorrow I go to MVA for my tags, and Wednesday it is back to the dealer.
I still have the PO's tags so when I got it home I rode it for the first time. Just a short one around the block, but I loved it. Can't wait for more. It is pretty wet and cold here in Maryland right now.
Looking forward to many happy miles.

You made an excellent choice.
Whats the deal with the lighta? you can only have them on in low beam?
Hope thats not the case in NY. I have mine wired so they are on all the time unless I turn them off.

Welcome to the fold, my brother. You will find that the Nomad is at it's best on those long get away trips. A sweet ride, smooth and plenty of power. You've made the right choice. What year and what add ons?? Or have you answered that already?? Be patient, April will be here all to soon. Spend time this winter preparing for the summer riding season.

Thanks all for the welcome.
N3TQV,
The bike is a 2001 with 7k miles, the only mode that the PO did was to add the light bar. I plan on doing PhatRisers II, passenger grab rails and luggage rack to start. Oh, and removing the stickers. I am waiting for the CycleShell I ordered to come in, I do not have a garage.
I posted this last week when I put the down payment on the bike, but here is the link again to some pics. http://www.flickr.com/photos/vaccam/2092715683/

flightdoc,
The last two pictures are from the Hyatt Dorado Beach resort in Puerto Rico where my wife and I spent the final two days of our honeymoon last March. It was a beautiful spot.

Again, Thank you. What a great bunch of guys and gals. It is nice that you make everyone feel so welcome.
I am dying to get out on the bike. So far I may have put 1 mile on it. :-[ I get a short ride to my local dealer tomorrow night (Wednesday) and hopefully a bit longer on Saturday, but this morning they called for rain and maybe flurries for the weekend. I will at least ride it home from the dealer, hopefully. I picked up the tags yesterday. That was fun.
