I ordered crashbar covers and the fit was not just right and I was told that my crashbar is not OEM. I purchased bike used and have no idea. Can someone help identify the manufacturer of the crashbar on my 2004 Kaw Nomad FI from the following link to pictures?
I surely appreciate any help.
Thanks
Mark

What year is your bike? My 06 has crashbars that bolt to the bike just about even with the front bottom of the tank. I can't say that I have seen a crashbar go across the front like that.

Your bars look exactly like the ones on my '04
I can't see any difference at all.
Don't know what to tell you; besides telling whomever you bought them from that they need to double-ck their "plans" for '04's
Maybe someone else with an '04 can find a difference.
I don't believe other year models go all the away across like our '04's do. I know mine goes all the way across.

Here is the parts drawing of the stock 2004 bars. They look a lot like the ones on your bike:

I'd have to say that's a winner CJ. I would guess that whoever he got the covers from may have sent him the wrong one and didn't want to fess up. Or perhpas he mistakenly ordered the wrong one. Those sure look like stock bars. Maybe they are slightly bent. I know one of mine is off by about 1/8 to 1/4 inch. It isn't noticeable till I got highway pegs.

If he ordered Fire & Steel, they don't fit and I have no idea what they would fit. I tossed mine and ordered Air Lite ones. I've since reordered the ones with pockets.

Now that I think about it. I gave my first set of Air Lites to Chuckster and he had them on his '05. After he seen my new ones, he ordered a set too. I think he probably still has the old set and I bet he'd give them to someone if they'd wimper a little.

I whimpered but Chuckster says he never had them. He says must have been someone else. :'(

For the record I did order the correct bar covers for an OEM 2004 1500 Nomad.
Manufacturer has offered to refund. (Name intentionally withheld at this time) Also Manufacturer says they have a stock bar on their 1500 and looks different to them. The bike has laid over in the driveway no visible damage. I would think that even if bars are bent slightly that covers would conform somewhat.
My concern is if I take refund and try to obtain cover elsewhere, am I going to be certain whether or not I have stock bar.

Mark,
I got my engine guard chaps from http://www.sagebrushdesigns.com/
and love um. I have a 2001 Nomad, but I believe the Fire & Steel engine guards were the same up through 2004. Think the chaps without studs run about $85. Check um out. Just go to the website, click on the catalog, click on Kawasaki, then scroll down till you see the Nomad model you have. My 2 cents!

Mark. Delinda from phcustoms can probably make a set for you if you run into trouble. She is in Dover, Arkansas not to far from you. Be a nice ride to see what you can get. www.phcustoms.com (http://www.phcustoms.com)

They look like the replacement crashbars I put on my 01 after I had to lay it down. I got mine off of ebay and I knew the difference from stock right away. (as mentioned my hi-way pegs no longer worked, I had to get new with a angle adjustment) So don't be too hard on the chaps place, just by the angle I can tell they are NOT stock bars...I'm betting the bike was layed down and the previous owner replaced them. But sorry I couldn't tell you the company name. Stock bars have little to no angle to them.

Thanks for all the replies on this. Originally I had ordered Phcustoms tank bib and crashbar covers. Delinda was very gracious at working with me to get what I needed. They build their covers for OEM stock bars. I am well pleased with PHCustoms products but I have sent the covers back since they did not seem to fit my bars. Another cover manufacturer (Airlite) also told me my bars did not look like stock. But they did have 2 different covers since Kawasaki had 2 different bars during that time frame. It is possible that my bars were replaced by a previous owner. I ordered the cover #2 for the 2004 Kaw Nomad 1500 FI off of their website and it came today and I am well pleased with the fit and design. I just love Happy endings! :)
