Over the last 3 days I have been cut off twice by a couple of http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2417/2088452543_25eb46c4b1_m.jpghttp://farm3.static.flickr.com/2417/2088452543_25eb46c4b1_m.jpg one of whom was talking on her http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2292/2089241784_9e114c462f_m.jpg and neither of them were looking. Both of them pulled in the lane and were directly in line with my front tire!!! I was pissed!!! I honked the horn, but I wasn't even sure they heard me. Needless to say, my middle finger flew loud and proud and these two http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2116/2088417367_b483e90aa6_m.jpghttp://farm3.static.flickr.com/2116/2088417367_b483e90aa6_m.jpg didn't even give the obligatory wave!!! WTF????

So, I am ordering a stebel this weekend, unless any of you know of a louder horn!

Damn cage drivers!!!!

Yup...pull in the clutch a little and crank the throttle....that usually scares the crap out of em...unless they are totally stupid.

I dont blame you for looking at the louder horn though..one of these days I am gonna put one on too.

a Colt .45 would work. Almost gotten to the point of packing that thing a few times due to H.U.A. cage drivers. I'm almost certain there are laws against this method though!!!

From what I've read, you can replace the stock horn with a stebel. Put it in the same spot.

I seen one mounted in the old horn bracket but he had to make another arm of metal(bracket) to hold the stebel, it wont just bolt right to the exisiting bracket w/o some help.

I put mine on the existing bracket. No problem. Just turned the bracket the other way and mounted it toward the outside of the bracket. It is slightly farther outside the frame than the original was, but no difficulty or modification mounting it. Appearance is fine (I got the chromed version.) Only had it there for a couple thousand miles, but no problems so far.

I got the double Rivco Air Horn mounted under the frame just in front of the V&H crossover. It's where the goat's Bladder used to be - scares the BeeJesus out of the old lady when ever I have to use it!

Just got the chromed version of the Stebel and no problem for this layman to mount it on my VN800B, which is my commuter that sees most the city traffic. It's quite versatile as far as mounting but probably will need to set up a clamp of some sort but I think the engine guard is the best place. There is a suggestion in the directions about orienting the air intake away from the oncoming , air flow, but that is not the horns themselves but a small inlet on the side so I faced my horns directly forward where I thought it would do the most good, opposite an earlier photo in this thread.

Yeah, 139 dbs, ads claim it is the loudest motorcycle horn available, although after wiring in the new 20A circuit not sure what would be stopping me from getting the loudest one available for 18 wheeler.

The problem is those take a separate air compressor. That can be done on a bike, but finding the space for the compressor unit is always a challenge. The compressor can also be separated on the Stebel Nautilus, but either way is is very small.

I've also been thinkin of getting a stebel horn but have been wondering WHERE to mount it?

Got any ideas?

I mounted mine where the oem horn was, using the oem bracket. I put a 45 degree bend in the end to position the intake to the rear of the bike, but it would've fit without bending. I've got the relay under the seat. Had to use it twice since mounting it - Both times the reaction was that of shock as if I appeared outta nowhere...

That chromed version sure is purdy. Something very satisfying about mashing the horn button on some a-hole who deserves it. Scares the crap out of people and causes them to get back in their lane so fast they almost get whiplash. Horn sounds like a freight train is coming down the road. Yeah.

Thanks! Gotta admit it's coming along right nicely - when the beer bag (Corbin Trunk) gets here, it'll be just about right.

I've decided to mount a locomotive horn on my bike. Presently I have narrowed my choice down to two. A Prime 990 or a Nathan P-5M. Here's what they look like.

Prime 990

Here's what this one sounds like: http://www.dieselairhorns.com/sounds/Prime990.mp3

Nathan P-5M

Listen to this one here: http://www.dieselairhorns.com/sounds/NathanP5x.mp3

Now for the hard part. I'm going to have to get a trailer which can carry the large air compressor and tank and the motor generator to power it. Then I can just run an air hose up the horn which I plan to mount on the front fender.

By God when I blow this thing those cagers had better be wearing diapers!

Man with that chrome horn facing back towards the rider doesn't it kill your ears? Wouldn't it be better facing out sideways?

Cheesey: im trying to rationalize how that thing bolts directly to the stock bracket? I have seen others but they had an extra piece of metal bend to work and horn/bracket bolted to stock bracket? i like your idea if it bolts up directly with just a little bending of the horn bracket?? more info plzzz,,,Thanks

Is that foot peg coming off the floor boards a gate latch? What type of bolts or screws are holding it underneath the floor boards? I like that!
