I'm wondering who has the most miles.
Include anyone you know as well.
Let's start with 40,000 miles or more.
Include in your response any mechanical issues besides normal maintenance.

BD will... in about 12 years.
I would have if we hadn't gotten early snow this year, I'm 500 hundred miles short. All I've done is change oil and filter per recommended mileages, lube splines, couple sets of new tires, clean air filter, and change the hyponoid gear lube twice. (And rejoiced at having hydraulic valves at appropriate mileage intervals.)
Okay, my ignorance -- hyponoid gear??? ???
40K on my VN1800B, BTW, zero issues. Pretty sure it does not have a hyponoid gear, if so, don't think it ever got lubed.

I have 60,000 on our 2006. Had to replace the clutch spring at 38,000. At 52,000 I replaced the clutch push rod seal, did this one myself for less than $20. At 57,000 I had the drive shaft seal change out, I think that one cost $120 at a shop in Illinois. I, myself replaced the inner and outer spark plug tube O-Rings, for under $20. This one was my fault for taking the tubes out in the first place (wanted to see if my cam chain was rubbing on the tubes....NOT). I changed the rear brake pads 2X, about $35 each time. Oil changes every 3K, And lots of tires when necessary. To be honest, this bike runs as good now as it did when new...I love it! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

2006 77,000 miles - usual maintanence. I've changed the wiring harness, coolant o-orings, and right now waiting on a new radiator after a couple of jb weld jobs are leaking now.

Right now I only have 109,554 miles on my 99 Nomad. Same clutch!
I was talking to my dealer yesterday about all I've done to the bike so far.
"Judges" gear at 4,000 miles.
1 fuel pump at 10,000 miles.
Coolant changed once.
3 brake switches , (bought 3rd yesterday).
1 drive shaft.
Same 2 brake light bulbs in the back, never replaced!
All original dash light bulbs still in it!
3 original turn signal bulbs still working!
Can anyone beat this!?? <G>
I've only rode it about 1,200 this year because of my broken neck last December.
I'm slowly getting use to riding again....

Dang Mike, I figured you were up there some on the mileage.
I am at 86K now. Same clutch but probably gotta add Judges soon with a Meanie spring. Only thing I've really changed is the temp sensor and fan switch but didn't need to...long story and the cam chain extenders. I probably have to do the shift forks though, ugh!

62,000 and climbing. Had to replace the clutch push rod 'O' ring at about 40,000. Thus far, no problems but I still hate the low speed gear noise. I also still think the 1700 Nomad is under powered nonetheless a great cruiser. Still riding .....

Hi, Miles have slowed on Nomad after 2010 when I got a Goldwing but still clicking along.
Am pretty particular about the maint on bikes and do all my own work. Other than fluids and tires, plugs at 24,000 miles and a new battery at 5 years, I've only had a couple "unusual" repairs.
The first made me angry at Kaw and is why I have a new wing and not a Voyager in the garage next to the Nomad. 21 days after warranty expired with only 13,000 miles on the bike had to replace the water pump drive shaft and seal. Shaft had not been properly hardened and grooved badly at the seal point. Did the work (remove engine, split cases) my self.
Beyond that I had to diss-assemble the fuel pump/filter/regulator and clean at 31,000 miles. Reseat and seal the clutch accuator shaft seal at 34,000 miles. Add cam chain extenders at 47,000 miles. This winter I will replace the stearing head bearings (have a notch at center position) and replace all the brake pads.
I plan to ride it out the National next year and think that it will do fine. I think these bikes are much like todays cars. With reasonable maint they'll run 150,000 miles before any significant repairs should be nesc.

I was getting close with 37,550 when I traded. I'm sure it would have easily gone well over 50,000.
