Well i was riding my bike from the dealer after getting it fixed "again" for leaking oil. A car in in the oncoming lane desided to do a wide u-turn right in front of me.
I locked up the brakes and swerved to the right. Lucky me he stoped and i was able to ride around him . Took a few min to unstick my butt from the seat when i got home.
Butt all is well. :)

Glad you avoided the obstacle, and apparently got the seat cover outta your backside http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Glad you are here and able to talk about it...hate it when that type of event occurs...but it does keep a fresh perspective forefront of your mind;)

Keeps a rider on his toes, doesn't it?
About anytime, about anywhere -- Thanks for the reminder.

Glad you were able to avoid him. That re-affirms the need to constantly expect the un-expected!

We are invisible......
I hope you were able to communicate with the driver and tell them they were number one after your evasive maneuvers......

Glad you rode through it.
I normally can't communicate with anyone for at least a couple minute's after a near miss, not until I can finally loosen the grip on the handle bars and manage to get to where I can speak again.

Really puts things into perspective. Just think about all the times when your attention may have wandered and nothing happened. This is the kind of "wake up call" we sometimes need to put us in our place and remind us about how vulnerable we are. In a cage when I have a near miss it's an adrenaline "high". But on two-wheels I see my life flash before my eyes.
Glad you made it and didn't hit anything or high side and go down.

I am always looking at cars thinking "How are you going to try and kill me today?". Keeps me on my toes. :) Glad all is well. How the stains come out of your drawers. :)
Glad you are OK. I've had to brake hard a couple times. It is hard to avoid locking up the rear tire on these bikes when the weight transfers to the front. I was really hoping the new Nomads would have ABS as an option just for situations like you described.
Towering, Glad you maneuvered through it, good job. Just curious, did the front brake lock or just the rear? Kind of hard to do much once the front locks. ABS would sure save a number of folks in situations like that. While I am a big fan of ABS, I don't like the idea of linking the front and back brakes, I want control over that.
