View Full Version : Yet, another newbie, but from PA.
I've been lurking and reading everything I could on different kinds of bikes and I decided to buy a NOMAD to replace my 800 Vulcan. We need and the wife wants a bigger bike. After a test ride on a 1500 nomad I was in love and figured a 1600 nomad must be as good or better then a 1500. After pricing used nomads I decided to buy new, 07 leftover or 08 but there is no green or blue and the wife doesn't want red and silver. So I guess I'm going to look for black and silver.
This sight and you guys sound like a great bunch of people and I would like to be part of this elite group.
Welcome from the west coast!

Welcome, though I'm a newbie too. Just in case it helps I'll give the the specifics on my last Nomad purchase.
I bought it at the beginning of Feb. 07 and it was on 06 zero mile new bike, so about the same situation that you are in. I went on Bike trader and found the lowest price I could find $10,477 in North Carolina.
I called a couple of the local Kawasaki dealers to see if they would match the price, saving me shipping charges. Two dealers would, just depended on if I wanted green and silver or all black. When I went to get the bike I was expecting them to try and throw in some additional charges, but other than what was unavoidable state taxes, it was exactly the $10,477 I was expecting.
I also got zero percent financing for six months, letting me keep the money I had in savings and letting it draw interest for six more months. I also got them to match an Internet price on the 4 year extended warranty, $390.
Don't know if others have done better, but that's what I got trying to buy a year old, brand new bike.
Good luck and enjoy

Welcome Fish.
Check EBAY motors. Search under Vulcan Nomad. I think there is a green one listed right now with reasonable miles on it

Welcome from Bangor, Pa. There's another member here called Heater_Guy that lives in Schnecksville. I picked up an 07 Black and Silver over here at Horn's Outdoor in August for $11,500.

Welcome fish. The blue and silver is the fastest color. Regardless what others say.

Welcome Fish, good luck hunting for your bike, its half the fun. If you shop around you will get a good deal. The bikeshops have to pay interest on a floor plan on any bikes they have in inventory after about 90-120 days. If they have a bike sitting for a few months it costs them a few bucks, this is a good time to buy since they dont want to carry them until spring.

Welcome to KawaNOW fish! Good luck on your purchase. It's a good time to buy.
Beezer, Is Horn's outdoors between Bangor and Mt. Bethel on rt. 512 ? If so are they good to deal with. Thanks.
Privateer, I've been checking and there is a nice green 99 nomad but a little bit of age on it. The other green one a 06? has low mileage and I would think it was beat by the way the back tire looks. I e-mailed a guy that had one on maybe 2 weeks ago that didn't even get a bid but he didn't get back to me.

Hey Fish,
Welcome, from Boyertown. I think you'd like the 1600 Nomad more. It has improved geometry for better handling, and ride. You might want to try Two Jacks up in Wilkes Barre, he generally will make good deals at yr. end. Also Montgomeryville Cycles if they have anything left. There on 309 near Telford. Good luck, you'll love the "NOMAD".
I was up to 2 jacks on Sat. he had 1 left black and silver he wanted 12,100. He also had a new 06 2000LT for 11,900. Thanks for the tip. I'm going to try Horns on Sat and maybe max cycle in Honey brook. If I wait to long I might be out of luck. I would prefer to buy local If I get a decent deal. I was also at Scotts in Center valley 11,900 for black and 12,100 forred and silver.

Fish, I think you'd be better off at Scotts Powersports on 309 in Coopersburg or Montgomeryville than Cyclemax, they don't move much on pricing. Just my 2cents
In any event good luck. Im on my 2nd Nomad and don't think they can be beat for
Ride,Handling,Looks or Price. You should be able to get a price below 12000 I'd guess between 10,800 & 11,600. KEEP SHOPIN!

Welcome fish! Check out Can Do Powersports in Hazleton too. They had some 2006 leftovers for around $11,000. I bought mine at Scott's. They came down in price from list to $12,00 on a black/ silver 2007 without me pushing too hard. If you go there ask for Bret Wagner. He's the sales manager and is great to deal with.
Looks like we have a few Nomad owners in this part of Pa. Group ride when this stupid winter weather finally goes away??

hey fish,
I've never ridden a 1500 but I have read reviews and they've said the 1600 is an improved ride over the 1500.

I like my 1500, but I'll move up to the 1600 one of these days.
Thank you to everybody, now I know I'm making the right choice of bike and website. I'll keep you all posted how my hunting goes.

Welcome from the Left Coast! First off, Naugaman lies: black is clearly that fastest color (this is substantiated with scientific proof that he obviously elects to ignore). Second, are you a Steeler's fan or an Eagles fan? This is critical, so think long and hard about this before answering.
I certainly wouldn't want to do anything (Steelers) to sway your decision one way or the other (Steelers), but my two favorite colors and black and yellow, and I prefer teams with their emblem on just one side of thier helmet, not one's with pansy-looking fairy wings adorning the front and sides. How gay is that??? (not that there's anything wrong with that!)
So, have you decided yet (Steelers)? No pressure (Steelers). Make up your own mind (Steelers). http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Sincerely,
Steeler fan Daryl
Go Steelers!!!

My uncles' 2004 1500 Classic is faster than my 1600 Nomad. However, the ride quality is far superior on the Nomad. We swapped bikes during a recent ride and agreed on both of these points.
