Got my bike back today! It has been gone since before Thanksgiving, getting the POG replaced and new rings put in. The POG had 6 teeth gone when they took it out. Took some pics with my cell phone so sorry for the quality.

Here is the bike without the engine in it...very sad looking

Here is the engine on the work bench at the shop

Here it is safe and sound at home after some cleaning up

Awright! how did you ever keep your sanity? I have mine down 'cause I'm "deer sceerd" and I'm misty eyed just thinking 'bout it.

My weekends were boring that is for sure. I did have a friend lend me his HD Heritage Softail for a trip over Thanksgiving. Made me miss my Nomad so much but I was very thankful to him for letting me enjoy the two day group ride.

Coacha;

At what mileage did you have to have this work done? Just wondered so I can know what to expect and possibly when.

Also; were there any advanced "signals" letting you know it needed work?.. or was it more of a sudden thing.

Thanks, Greg

....congrats Coacha!!!! You are gonna enjoy not constantly having to worrry about when that oil light was gonna come on. And the timeing of when it happened couldn't have been better!! :)

GL ....Unless your bike is a 99 or older, you don't have to worry aout the POG falling apart. 2000 and newer had a steel oil pump gear and are trouble free.. :)

You are right Lomax...got to be a pain looking down to check the light all the time. You beat me to the punch on the POG issue for Greg...you don't have a worry with that. But to answer your question, it was at 21K that it was sent in for service and no cost to me.

Coach,
Glad that you've got your ride back. Boy, isn't that Red on Red the best...and that trunk looks great. I've saved my POG and put it on the pedestal holding the TV next to my desk at work. Take care bro,
Rich

Glad to see you got her back Ron, that had to give you a sick feeling seeing her with out the engine I know it would give me one. I take it they did install a steel gear right? anyway Glad you ready to ride again.
ride safe.

They put in a steel gear AND new rings at $0.00 cost to me! Took it in for new rear tire and came out with refurbished engine. Tammy even said that a vibration she used to feel is gone too...I think she is just imagining things.

She surprised me by having them put ISO grips on it for my birthday...even though I already told them to do it ;)
