My wife and I have both had a guardian bells on our bikes for the last 6 years and I was wondering how may others look to keep evil road spirits away. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

No, but I do believe in Karma. Maybe been watching to many
"My name is Earl" episodes. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

When you mention the Gaurdian bell, is that the small bell that you hang from your bike? Is this gaurdian bell something that someone else has to give you?

I also heard that the bell has something to do with riders that have past on and is a type of memorial or something like that. ???

Can you or someone elaborate please.

I am superstitious. I have seen Guardian Bells but also read that they are supposed to be gifted to you. So I do not have one. Yet.

No guardian bells, but my wife and I enjoy attending the yearly non-denominational bike blessings in our area at the start of our riding season.

Don't know what happens in other groups, but we join with others to pray thoughtfully, both for ourselves, and our fellow riders everywhere. And if you are a spiritual person, you can feel the prayers directed back to you.

It's a weird yet wonderful thing to be surrounded by hundreds of fellow enthusiasts, and knowing that each one is praying for the safety of others.

"Legend has it that Evil Road Spirits have been latching themselves on to motorcycles for as long as there have been bikes on the road. These Evil Road Spirits are responsible for mechanical problems and bad luck along a journey.

Legend goes on to say that by attaching a small bell onto your bike, the Evil Road Spirits will become trapped inside the bell where the constant ringing drives them insane, making them lose their grip until they fall to the ground. (Ever wonder where potholes come from?)

Legend also has it that the mystery of the Guardian Bell carries twice as much power when it is purchased by a friend or loved one and given as a gift."

My wife bought me one when I got my bike and it has been hanging below my radiator ever since. I can occasionally hear it ring when riding...working its magic... ;)!

No bell needed here. Talk to my gaurdian before each ride.

Isn't that still kinda like being superstitious only without the bell ???

Not superstitious. Do believe and trust in God. I take responsibility to do my part and do the maintenace on the bike and try to pay attention. Keep your eyes and ears open.

have the bell on the bike given to me by a good friend, but also throw a word up to the big man before every ride, been down three times (in 30+/- years) and walked away from them all, so I think one really works and the other can't hurt, but I am not superstitious.
ride safe.

I'm not the least bit superstitious but I have a bell given to me by my wife. I have fun explaining it's purpose to the unknowing in a serious "believer" tone. Besides, it's kind of like the guy who prayed to all the Gods. It doesn't hurt to cover your bases. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Not suspicious, but Higher Powered :). Do have a bell though, wouldn't trade it for anything, since it was given to me by a buddy from one of his favorite old bikes that had seen many, many miles and carried a large American flag blowing in the open breeze all over the US.

We do pray before each ride, no matter what size the group. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

Not superstitious; and do not have a bell.

I would put one on my bike if given to me; but have not been concerned about not having one.

Son bought my my first bell, wife bought me my second. Don't really think that I am superstitious (knock wood).

Do like to hear the bell ringing in the wind though.

Not superstitious, but a friend did by me the guardian bell, and I did attach it to my bike, out of respect.

The bell has scared off deer though on a few occasions.

Also, I like the sound of praying before riding. Haven't tried it.

I'm not superstitious, but I do like the bells (we call them Gremlin bells). I have one that a friend gave me. I have it mounted where the right engine guard meets the frame on the bottom in front of the floorboard. I got one to give to the wife, and I'm going to mount it on the other side in the same place. (I like concentricity) http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

The only thing that DOES work, is PRAYER.

Hey, you're still with us.....and riding! :) :) :)

Not supersticious but had the bell just for fun. It was a gift from my friend when I got my first bike and I transfered it to my other bikes as I bought them keeping it more as a sentimental item. When I sold my nomad I left it on because I was selling it to a good friend of mine and it was kind of a re-gift.
