http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif Thanks TC for sending some snow. Near 1/4" accumulated... on the porch rail. Worked all day in sleeveless shirt. Started cooling midafternoon. light rain by seven then sleet mix. Don't know when it started to snow. More than likely to be all ice in the a.m. anyway. So much for putting off fixin the heater in the truck. It will be a slow morning without a defroster. On second thought I'll steal the wifes Mountaineer. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif Tools already on the job.

Send some of this to CJ.

Geez, skeeter! It must be terrible there for you!! Ha Ha

We had ice, then snow last night. Couldn't hardly get the frozen door open on my TrailBlazer this morning. Right now the thermometer reads 6 degrees and will probably drop further tonight.

Wouldn't it be nice to live in Iowa?? BnG

Y'all are making me cold just looking at those photos! This morning it was 30 degrees and I rode to work with my lined chaps, lined coat, balaclava, heavy gloves with inserts and full helmet. It took me almost as long to get ready as it did getting to work! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Hey Jeff, for some reason I never thought it got that cold in Texas.
I rode my bike home from Oswego NY when it was 38 degrees and I really didn't have a good time.
I don't think it would really be worth it to me bundle up for a short ride to work.

Hey, I could hardly see past the blinds in the door. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Nothing really stuck except on raised surfaces. Windshield was clear so I took the truck. Guess I should work on that heater. Today.
Hard to acclimate with such huge temperature swings.

We usually get more ice than snow.
Stay warm and dry.

Was supposed to leave in the morning to ride the Trace up to Nashville. They are predicting 3" of accumulated snow and ice patches in the Tupelo, MS area. I have a difficult time keeping the shiny side up in gravel. Don't think I'll try snow & ice. May delay leaving until Friday morning.

Man!, Skeeter, I know what you mean. That same "snow storm" is passing through Houston right now. A little earlier today I thought we might have to shut down the city http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif ???

Worst part is the "extremes". was 72 or so yesterday, 32 and snowing this evening in Pasa-get down-dena,TX USA. Hasnt snowed here since Christmas Eve 2004, and before that it was 1989.

I hope this crap clears out before morning so I can ride to Galveston about noon for the Lone Star Rally. To hell with the cold, if it's dry I'm riding.

Believe it or not, we are getting accumulations of 3 - 5" down here this morning in the Baton Rouge area. It snowed pretty heavy for about 20 minutes at my home just a little while ago but the ground isn't cold enough for any accumulation. 38 degrees at the moment. What a weird weather pattern.....

The snowflake convention resulted in accumulation of about 4 inches in the yard. While that may seem insignificant to our Northern neighbors, it is enough to nearly shut down the city here. Thanks to Tex DOT's engineers who design freeway interchanges with flyovers eighty feet in the air, and two of the three bridges over the ship channel being closed, as well as the elevated freeway that feeds two of them traffic was a nightmare. Fortunately this isnt an every winter occurrance, and the sun is out in force. the front yard is green again and the temps are up to 39. Will be leaving for Galveston in about an hour for the Lone Star Rally.

I knew a guy back in the 70's whos bike looked like that all winter. Yeah , he left it out and never covered it. It was a little rusty in places. One day it fell over at work and no one told him about it 'cause they figured he just didn't care anyway.
I guess he did care 'cause he was really pissed no one told him. ;)

Our Canadian members have to be laughing their *sses off!!!

No offense; but one picture posted looks like what we call here in the North a "light frost" -- to the Canadians they might have had a picnic on a day like that.

It's all relative I guess.

None taken. When the populace can't drive in the rain, frozen precipitation poses significant problems, which are amplified by design limitations of our highways that werent designed for frozen stuff.

I know what ya mean LW. My brother was down south in the service and he said they get an inch of snow or a covering of ice and they shut the place down. No one drives in that stuff so they don't know what to do when they lose a little traction.
He said if it wasn't for the possibility of someone getting hurt and all the property damage it would be hilarious.

Hey TC, all of us in Alberta can relate today. Deep freeze has settled in now and expected to last for a few days. Right now the temperature sits at a balmy -28 C. The family is hibernating this weekend in front of the fire and watching movies. Only thing we have to do this weekend is go to the Oilers / Canucks game tonight.

Stay warm everybody!

wow -28c translates to -18 Fahrenheit. If I am correct.
We had -8 here this morning. I figure 4 more months and we will be able to ride again.
Bought some Phat 2 risers to put on the Nomad as soon as it gets warm enough in my unheated garage http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

It's been snowing non-stop in Flagstaff (7000') since Sunday evening. They are predicting up to 3 feet of snow by the time it passes through. Meanwhile, down here in the Valley of the Sun (1100'), there is no sun - just thick clouds and rain off/on through Thursday morning, with highs in the 50's. Brrrrrrrr!

Some parts east of Baton Rouge got 8". Listen, you snowbirds, anything that sticks to the ground is a blizzard down here http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif. There's probably no funnier site than one of us on the road in sleet or snow ( heaven forbid ). Yeah, we even close schools and everything here when we get snow. At least it ain't a friggin hurricane !! Sheesh !!

One foot of snow and blowing today on the far north border of Illinois today (Roccoe, IL).

Perfect for not making it in to work this morning; perfect for snowmobiling this afternoon.

I just got in from blowing out my driveway and four of my neighbours driveways. We received about a foot of snow since this morning, and its just starting to taper off now. Im lucky the school called me earlier this afternoon and told me not to bother coming in tonight. A couple rum and cokes and I'll go finish the job outside.

Same here; only it will be Bourbon and Seven for me.

Just got back from a 60 mile snowmobile run. Snow was perfect but a bit deep. It slowed the sleds down a bit -- but still fun to do in the winter when you can't ride the bike.

Yeah, looks like most of the continent(northern 2/3 at least) is taking a shot of winter this solstice. Even the deep SE and Cal are feeling it, or are going to. Not quite blizzard conditions everywhere though. Interestingly, to me at least, is that the term "blizzard" was originally coined by a small local newspaper published in Estherville Iowa, just a few miles from where I grew up, where we had real blizzards. ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blizzard

:( Yeah- blizzard sounds about right. Is currently -6 below on it's way up to -2 and then going to -17 overnite. Been outside a couple of times for firewood and it is friggin' cold. Of course, house is a toasty 75 F and my dog is looking for a cool spot to lay! Yep, it is winter in Iowa. For those that can- ride safe- and MERRY X-MAs to all!!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

Man this sucks, I love snow and live in the mountains in Northern Arkansas. They got snow 30 miles north of me and south of me in texas and La. Hell; even vegas got snow but not me. But don't think its riding weather, hell no its 6 degrees here with a wind chill of -3 and 25mph wind gusts. I must of ticked off mother nature. I supposed to move the first weekend in January into a new home I bet it snows butthole deep that weekend.

Winter is big time up here in Northern Alberta. Only about 1 ft. of snow but lots of ice and an average of -40c . Even with a circulating heater and a battery warmer the old chevy hesitates to starts. Tomorrow I'm heading out on a (usually) 18hr trip down thru the rockies and over to the coast of Vancouver Island for xmas. The weather channel shows me that its socked in with snow and exteme freezing temps all the way there. Not looking forward to this trip but need to go and see folks down there for xmas. Maybe I'll be locked in 4x4 all the way there! So much for global warming eh...Bdog

Hay BDog - Pudgy Sound is finally in a stop snow condition. We;ve got between 12 and 18 inches through most of the region. I think that Vancouver is about the same. roads are slick and ice covered. We havn'et been above freezing ealry last week. Major roads are starting to clear, side streets are almost impassable. Drive careful, the passes are barely open.
