View Full Version : Is your Nomad the color you wanted?

Of the stock color combinations, is yours the color you most wanted?
And if not, what stock color do you wish it was.
Mine is green and silver. I could have had black too, but I like the two tone bikes. But those two were the choices on the last year that I bought a new Nomad.
I really liked the look of my 05 black and silver.
In 99 I had the choice of the green/green, or the red/maroon. I too the red one. Now after seeing the green/green ones on this board, I might have taken the green one back then.
So, do you have your favorite color combo, and if not, what one do you wish it was?

I have the bike colors that I've always wanted. I actually waited for about 4 years to get a new bike because I wanted a red & black one. My Honda VTX was blue, and I really liked it, but if there were would have been a red one available when I bought that I would have taken it. When I saw the colors available on the Nomads last year, it caught my eye, and the research that I read backed up that it was a great bike. So, it was goodbye VTX, hello red & black Nomad! One of the best choices I've ever made!
Purple was the color I first saw a Nomad in. I was looking for another bike at the time, but only had a general idea what I wanted.
When I saw the Nomad, it seemed perfect. I bought it right there and then. I really knew nothing at all about Nomads, but later did research and discovered it was more suited to my needs than I first imagined.
I like the color, it's somewhat rare, and looks great w/ the extras and chrome. Green on Green would have been my pick if I had a selection to choose from. Between the two, I don't know that I have a favorite.

I bought the black and red one. I really wanted a 2 tone, and the Black and Red was what I really wanted. I bought it a year earlier than I was planning as I was waiting to see the 2009, once I saw them come out, I went and bought a 2008. There was only one dealer within in 75 miles of my house that had 1 Nomad put out the day before. I went in 15 min before closing. A sales rep who was standing around talking asked how could he help me before they closed. I asked do you have a Nomad he pointed to the Black and Red one and I told told him where is the application. Done 30 minuets later.

I wanted full black, but in 2005, Kawa only made black and silver. I'm not complaining tho.

I bought Black and Silver. It doesen't matter what color you buy, there is going to be a ton of them and I wanted something different.
Sooooooo, now I have the color I want http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif I had it painted. It is now black where it was black but purple where it was silver. They fade into each other. There is real fire flames in blue and white and custom lettering on the tank instead of the badges. I can't wait till I can get it out in the spring to show you guys how good it looks.

Red and titanium is what I have. Like the green/green and looked at a used one just before a wreck in 06. A year later I bought the 07. Always seem to end up with red. Previous bike (yamaha) was same color combo. I didn't tell my wife I had traded and since we were going somewhere that evening, I made sure she went out the door first so I could see her reaction.
She started down the walkway and slowed to a stop. First she asked when I got the bags and then she hit me for stringing her along.

Of stock colors; I like my black (bronze) Nomad.
If I had a preference though, it would be a white Nomad.

I bought mine used. When I was considering, and then wanting, a Nomad, I really liked two color combinations: the green on green (1999), and the one I got (2003). So, I like and wanted the one I got.

In any color combination they look great!
That's a big 10-4. The hard bags were the first thing that caught my eye and then all the reviews and then once I sat on one I was sold.
As far as colour went, I really liked the Black, but my Suzuki is already black and all my previous bikes were black. Black is beautiful but scratches and swirls show up easily. So I decided to go with the Blue and silver and I'm very happy with it. But every once in awhile I still wonder if I should have got Black. :-/
Other colours may be faster, but the Blue and silver is the smoooothest. ;) http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I went to the dealer with every intention to buy a Red and Titanium, however they didnt have one, could have got one later in the day but being impatient as I am I could not wait , so I got a Black one it wasnt my fault that Black one kept calling my name. I still would prefer it to be White and that may happen in the near future.

'05 BLACK/SILVER AND YES ITS THE ONLY COLOR,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I like the Green/Green machines, but they werent an option in '07. Had Blue/silver been available in 07 I would have gotten that combo I think. I am happy though with Lucilles Candy Cardinal Red/Titanium; at least for now. Might buy her a flame job someday.

I originally started out looking at a leftover '07 Silver/Black, which looked beautiful to me. Then I saw an all-black '08 and I was hooked. It was then that I also noticed the black is metallic on the '08. Sold!
Mmmmmmmmm, black!!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

If I bought new, (I got my bike in 2008) I would have gotten a blue/silver. But decided to go with used. I knew I didn't want black (no offense against black, just not my color). The 99 green/green is a beauty, especially since I was coming off a Forest Green Concours. But the bike that I finally ended up getting was the red/silver. Even though it wasn't my first color choice, I'm happy with it.
Still, I'm hoping that when I get to see the 2009 Nomad at the DC Show in January, I'll hate it, or the price will be out of my range so I won't be kicking myself. There's no way I can get another bike for quite a while.

I wanted the Blue & Silver back in '05, and took 3 months to find one. Ended up being at the closest dealership to me http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif. The only thing I might Change in the future, would probably be switching from the "ocean metallic blue" to the "cobalt metallic blue" (I just love that color) ;)

I have the green & silver, and I HATE it. Dunno why I get so my compliments on it. To me, the colors don't match at all.
All black would've been my first choice. I've even thought about watching ebay for tins and swapping them all over time. Probably not though. I'll either get really ballsy and paint it pearl white myself or trade it for a black Voyager once it's paid off.
When I realized that looking for the right color was seriously delaying my Nomad purchase, I decided that I'd take the next good deal I could find and live with whatever color.
the next bike I found was the best color (see sig).

I have the Red/Titanium, that is the color that I liked best out of the 2007 colors. The 2008 Red/Black is really an eye catcher, if they had that in 2007 when I bought mine I would have gone with that color.

Like some of you I was impatient when I was suddenly able to make a purchase of another bike, having been without one for about 4-5 yrs.. I rushed right out to my local Kawasaki dealer to see what was available in June of 07. I had a good idea that the Nomad was my choice of bikes. The only thing they had left in their store was one silver and gray '07 and an all black '06. The salesman was anxious to sell the '06 and would give me a good deal on it. I really liked the black with the chrome shining brightly. No offense to the silver and gray Nomad owners but there wasn't a choice for me. Save a few bucks and have that all black beauty. ....or have a one yr. newer silver and blk.?????I took the black without much thinking. I have never been unhappy with my choice and my bike can't be picked out for the yr. it is by the colour.I am thinking of doing some DEEP flames added on the tank, frt. fender, and the sides of the bags. Along with maybe some off the sides of the trunk. But that'll be in time.

Im really happy with my red/black combo, when I was looking for a bike the colour wasn't my top priority, but Im glad I stumbled across the bike I have. Its my favorite colour scheme on the Nomads.
I was able to find a great deal on an 08'. The color had no bearing on the purchase. I would have bought the bike in any color(s) and would have been my favorite. I do think, though, if I would have purchased new from a dealer, I would have picked the same colors.

Wanted a Black in '07 and got a Black...looking back it was a really intellegent decision as the fairing cost less to paint and there are many accessories that are easier to match with Black. Finally, it will be a good base for custom paint in the future.
If I buy another, it would be tough to pass up a stock pearl white, but solid colors only please for me.

No, Black was not my first choice! I got to chose between a couple of colors for the steal I paid - they were " black" "black" or the ever popular "black"! I really wanted a Pearl White one - I had a 1987 Venture Royale in the same color and it was a beaut! I also liked the light tan / champane color but not available in 06!

Yes and No. I like the Green/Silver that I got but Black was my first choice. The Black one sold too quick so I bought the Green one. I am now thinking of repainting it to a sort of Battleship Gray maybe with a metal flake. Dunno. That will be a couple years though.

Mine is all black (the fastest color). It wouldn't have been my first choice, but it was my only choice. The dealer had 4 Nomads in stock when I bought mine - all black. I would have liked a two-tone. My previous bike ('05 C50T) was black and a change would have been nice. Having a black bike has its advantages. I didn't have to get the trunk painted to match.

I've always had a soft spot for red vehicles. when I started looking to replace my 86' Venture the Kawa Vulcans were at the top of the list along with a lightly used Wing. I hadn't even considered a Nomad. Saw this on on e-bay and fell in lust. Cardnal Red and Titinaum Silver. Georgous combination.
When i went looking for the 2K it had to be red. Looked at several Red/Silver scoots and fell for the all red one I got. Red with gold pen stripes. Sweet.
The two dealerships I visited only had black/silver. I'm not real particular about color. I can pretty much go along with anything. I am very satisfied with my bike, color and all !!

I'm surprised about how much passion there is for a white bike, the one color you can't get a Nomad in.
Before anyone with an 06 green/silver paints theirs, trade out my right saddle bag with the scratches :)

Loved the gold on gold from the first time I saw one... had to wait a few years before I could get a Nomad and then the search was on for an '02. Found one 45 minutes from my house and I love always being able to easily spot my bike in a crowd. Plus after having a black bike before, the dirt-hiding abilities of this new color are great! Honestly, if I coudln't have gotten this color, I don't know what other Nomad color I would have chosen because I'm not thrilled with any others... probably all black though would work.

I had a 85' black vulcan, looked really good.
When I bought my 08' Nomad, I was looking at the Red/Black. Can't really tell by pictures, so when I went to the dealer, I seen both the Red/Black and the Blue/Silver. I decided to go with the Blue/Silver, as the chrome seemed to stand out better, and with blue lights up in the engine shining on the chrome, it really looks sharp.
As much as I like it, I've gotten very few compliments on mine. When I met up with MarkG this summer on his grand tour, he said we was getting lots of compliments on his red/red. Sure enough, at our first stop a stranger walks up and says, "those are a couple great looking bikes, really like the red one" Ho well, still think Blue/Silver is best.

I test drove every color Kawasaki ever made in the Nomad...I bought the fastest one. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Seriously...there are so many good Nomad color choices it is hard to choose just one.
When it comes to bike colors I tend to be more practical and think about visibility, hiding dirt/blemishes, and ease of maintenace. I also prefer something "unique".
Using those three criteria that ruled out black for me. But the good thing about black is all accessories match!
I prefer two tones and I am very happy with my color but nothing I buy (clothes, helmets,) match my bike.
I think my top 3 stock choices would be.
1. Blonde/Blonder two tone
2. Green/Green two tone
3. Red / Champaign (my existing color)
If I had mine painted one custom color I would probably go with
1. Champaign (Blonde)
2. Pearl White
3. Orange (like the new Suzuki C50)

rksaw, when I had mine, I always thought I had a red bike. Then later I found that others thought that I had a purple bike?
After the initial surprise I realized that I always walked up seeing the side (red), and I always took pictures from the side. In my mind I had a red bike.
Others saw it from behind. Parked in a drive way people saw it from behind. Following me down the road, from behind. If that is the angle you keep seeing it, its not a red bike.

the name came from my younger days (still only 31) so seeing as thats what the whole town knows me as i may as well go with it. gee that paint is deceptive in photos, i swear it looks black but that seems to be a problem with the 2 tones they are a real pain to photograph properly. i will have to find one and see it it the metal but will still keep it as a second choice.

I'm just teasing you about the name Mad. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif
I think the best looking part of the bike is actually the lines not the paint. For instance, look at this picture of a Victory Kingpin:
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f252/rksaw/412069_ec995094-dcc5-4f1c-aa8f-2a55.jpg
I personally think that both the front and rear fenders fail to maintain a proportional line with their respective wheel. The Honda VTX does the same thing, but even makes it worse by creasing the fender down the center:
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f252/rksaw/IMG_0243-1.jpg
In comparison, Kawi had the sense to use classic lines when designing the Nomad. The front fender "flairs" out but does so with style and grace:
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f252/rksaw/DSC_5732.jpg
Bottom line, the Nomad is the best looking bike--regardless of color--while many other manufacturers have gone for the gaudy.

I'll admit...I did cringe a little when I saw the keys!! heheh Don't scratch that beautiful paint.
There are so many good looking colours that the nomad came out with. Although some of the two tones choices are awful and I won't mention what combo they are, besides its just my opinion. My first choice was black but if I "had" to settle for a second choice it would be the two tone red. Black is classic..so is the nomad. Black is sexy..so is the nomad. Black is fast too. You can't beat black and chrome for a combination..Bdog

I wanted full black, but in 2005, Kawa only made black and silver. I'm not complaining tho.
I have the same color combination as Trip. But I really wanted a Dark Metallic Bronze (looks black, but when light hits it youy see bronze metal flake). Unfortunately, it only came on 2004 Nomads and I bought a 2005. I even searched for a 2004 (actually prefer the saddle on the older Nomads) but all I could find were the Blue Gray two tones and there was no way I was getting a Cowboy colors bike. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Of the older color combos, the black and red that came of the 2002 bikes was the best of the two tones. Nomads look best when the sides of the hard bags are dark (to set off the chrome strips).
I am ok with having the black silver, but I do think the dark bronze was the best color for any bike (maybe followed by the dark cherry color HD uses).

Full Disclosure! I was never able to buy a NEW bike, so color was always a secondary consideration. By that I mean I would shop around looking for a particular model or style that I wanted, and then find the cheapest one I could afford. This usually led to color choices that weren't my "first" choice. I'm embarrassed to admit that when I stumbled across my 1999 G/G, I once again felt I was settling on a color. That said, to this day that bike was my all time favorite (not including my 2006), and the color had a lot to do with that. It was UNIQUE! I almost never saw another one, and I got alot of positive comments about the color. It was a sad day when I sold it this past fall, but I was ready to update to the 1600 and all the improvements it offered. I liked the Ruby/Silver alot, was okay with the Blue/Silver, but decided that I didn't care as much for the Green/Silver combination as compared to my Green/Green. That said, when the Black one fell into my lap, I was thrilled. It would have been the color I would have selected if I was buying it new. I think ALL Nomads are beautiful in any color or combination, but the colors also date them. Black is classic and timeless. I intend to keep this one for a very long time as I really don't care for the look of the 1700's. In my opinion the 1600's will go down as the high water mark for this bike, and I thrilled to have a black one.

I planned on a black Nomad but when I saw this color on the showroom floor, I had to have her. The only other color I really like is the Green on Green which I believe came in 98 or 99.

perhaps kawasaki should have produced a green anniversary model to commemorate 10 years of production?. its the only way i would buy a new one...
I love the "Black Pearl". I think I might throw some nice flowing graphics over the top of the stock color and fill in the strips on the bags.
