View Full Version : About the BD Garage...turned finer things

I reread the rules and it appears that this section is just for questions to BD and his responses. Sorry that I posted my opinions on stuff in there and will refrain from doing so in the future. Somehow, I intially came to the conclusion that it was to be a general garage question type place with BD as the moderator. I'll just read from now on. Come on Spring.

No problem, kevin. I probably need to label that board a little better so that anyone coming in will know what it's for.

If you have any questions for BD, feel free to ask and discuss in BD's Garage....that's what he's there for.

And.....without a doubt, if there is a question on mods, experiences in general with your Nomad that you have first hand knowledge and can provide conclusive results go ahead and post. We just want to keep it clear of general comments and boo hoo personals...

The Rules and Regulations will shed light on the questions that should be addressed. As you know it would be a nightmare to try to "fix" someone's bike over the internet or supply teardown procedures.

thanks,

I didn't notice anywhere in the "rules" that said other members can't post anything in the BD garage. If thats the case I'm more than happy to comply there's plenty of other places on this site my mouse and keyboard can take me http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

Doc,
Still negative, I see. As always, you have misunderstood the purpose of everything on this forum. We're all here to learn more about our Nomads, not to hear your negative feelings about BD in every post you make.

I've tried to resolve whatever problem you have privately, but you refuse to communicate with me and you seem to keep making this public. So, here's a public ultimatum for you......

Chill out, try to become a part of things and get a more positive attitude, or get off.

The ball is in your court.

Along with Montecristo #2 and 4's (cuban).. that goodness I have a cuban buddy who hates cigars but goes home every year and brings back the legal 2 boxes for me! My favorite domestics are CAO Camaroon wrapper, Carlos Toranos 1959 natural wrapper torpedos. Excaliber #1 Maduro wrapper (these are double corona size) R&J Extra Viego box pressed. Big gars all of them.

I'm fortunate enough to live by both Famous Smokeshop and Cigars International. I had a Monte #2 in Aruba I picked up for $17 to see what the worldwide hype was about. I enjoyed it. I also picked up some #4's and brought a few home. At the Giants/Cowboys game the other week we smoked the last 2 with about a year on them. They had plume on them and my friend that doesn't smoke commented on how smooth it was. You can have any of these delivered to your door for about the same price you can buy them there. I have always known about the finer things in life....Jack & Coke, Crown Royal....etc...etc....but never have really gotten into the Gar world. I've smacked a few cigars in my day, but I guess I need to be educated more on the finer cigar points....I'm listening........

First, go to a good cigar shop and talk to the people working there. The majority are cigar smokers and can help you pick out your first few cigars.

Wait, just go to this website:
http://cigars.about.com/

You can get a world of info here, everything from how to light to how to smoke to how to choose. Take this info to a good cigar place and you're on your way.

Interesting Beez. So, you guys age your gars for a year or more before puffing? Do you do this for all gars?

BTW, I've been tieing up some cash into buying a gun lately. I just got a S&W .40 M&P auto pistol. I already have a Ruger .357 revolver. I plan on getting my cert to carry in January. I feel with the trips I'm taking all over the south and southwest, I need some protection as I'm bike camping and staying in occasional seedy hotels......

So, I might have to wait a month or two before splitting the focus on gars...but I'm doing the research right now. Lip smacking fun.

A few months ago I bought a Ruger .357 (GP100) I really feel like its the best revolver out there. Its a very solid, well built piece. I picked up 60 rounds of 158 grain gold dot for 5 bucks from a friend who was liquidating his gun bussiness. I like Utah because it is very gun friendly and with a concealed firearm permit you can carry it loaded virtually anywhere even in your car. (a few exceptions involving govt areas and such) Most states have some kind of web site like this http://bci.utah.gov/CFP/CFPFAQ/FAQOther.html to find out if other states recognize your permit and if they have special laws etc

I've got the same one, Wolfy. Very nice gun....mine was given to me as a present from my Dad when I graduated with my master's degree from college.

My Dad has a gun restoration business on the side. He can talk guns with the best of them. Bores me to death sometimes...LOL.

Like Utah, Texas is very gun friendly also. In fact, it just became law in Texas that you can carry a gun (concealed) in the Houston area without a permit.

It probably was for the best......every woman I've talked guns with prefers a revolver than a semi-auto. The M&P semi auto's don't have a safety and that scares some people. I decided to get both.

I used to own a Ruger .45 revolver with a 9 inch barrel. Now that was a gun! When I shot it, it would kick my arm straight up over my head. I got rid of it because it was like spitting out a quarter everytime I shot it. Ammo has gone up since then.

Have you spent much time with the M&P? I am curious as to how it handles and shoots. I know that Smith has hyped the gun quite a bit.

The outing I had with it last weekend was the first time I shot with it, Richard. I will say that so far, I'm impressed with the gun. My aim was a lot better than I thought it would be and the gun handled very well. It comes with two 15-round clips and I took advantage and really heated the gun. I really like it so far.

I also like the sight system it has and the interchangable grips.

I used to own a Ruger .45 revolver with a 9 inch barrel. Now that was a gun! When I shot it, it would kick my arm straight up over my head. I got rid of it because it was like spitting out a quarter everytime I shot it. Ammo has gone up since then.

Hey trip the m&p has a couple of safeties built in one on the trigger and a sear block also[/quote:k641y7je]

Oh really??? Wasn't aware. Couldn't find any safety's anywhere on that gun.
