I cant think of a better machine out there for the money other than the Nomad. Mine is stored in the garage which is attached to my home and every time I go out in the garage for something I am continually marveled at the beauty of this bike. I like all bikes and Harley's included. I have tested Road kings, Road stars, Victory's, and VTX 1800's. The Nomad is the only one that fit's me like a glove, and handles better than any other bike. The single pin crank exhaust note rivals any Harley out there (with V&H pipes that is). It amazes me that there seem to be so few out on the road. Maybe it's the best kept secret out there.

I think they call it "preaching to the choir" with your post on this board.
Yes, she is a beauty, and I also looked at so many different bikes before falling in love with the Nomad. Even looks great pulling a trailer! (Getting her ready for the National Rally)...Joe

I get compliments from other riders just about everywhere I go on mine.(including Harley dealerships)
I spent lots of time checking out bikes before deciding on the Nomad. Harley was out of the question. (Thats another story) Ultimately, I am glad I made the decision I did. I most likely have a different relationship with my Nomad as compared to others. Which is the same relationship I have with all the vehicles/machines I have. No regrets, No excuses. :)

I was able to ride with my son today and loved every minute of it. You cannot beat the Nomad!

I don't know that the Nomad is spectacular at any thing, but it does everything well.
It's not fast, not powerful, doesn't get good gas mileage etc. But it corners well, holds a lot of cargo, protects from the wind and rain well, doesn't get pushed around by wind blast, etc. Everything it does, it does well.
I'm sold on its looks, warranty, and price.

When I first bought my nomad in 06, I very seldom seen any others....and, frankly, it kinda worried me, even though I really liked mine.... But, now, when we go on our trips etc, you see one pretty often........ ronnie

After just finishing about a 400+ mile trip on a Heritage Softail, I an unequivocally say that I will never own one and I sure miss my Nomad. The Softail is definitely not a touring bike. I suppose the H/D Ultra Classic may be ok but it is out of my price range for sure.
Tammy rode on the back of a Royal Star Tour Deluxe for a little bit and she told me I don't need to worry about getting one of those either because it lacks leg room and was very uncomfortable for the passenger.
So I guess we will stick with the Nomad for awhile until something better is made...doubt that will happen.

I'm leaving this weekend bound for New Orleans. It is 700 miles each way and we only have 3 days to make the trip. There are alot of bikes out there that I wouldn't even consider riding that many miles in 1 day on,my Nomad isn't one of them.
I made a 1400 mile/4 day trip with a friend last year.He was on a Heritage, and they were beat up and exhausted at the end of the day,we were ready to go a few more miles.

The Heritage had a Mustang seat on it and I really don't care for it either. I'll take my locally changed Nomad seat any day.

you know, you are correct. for some reason you just don't see that many nomads...i've seen a lot of v-stars and roadstars, though. maybe its because those bikes are cheaper? i really don't know. i love my nad and i don't want anything else. :)

My Nad that I bought new in '05, is the first cruiser I've ever ridden. I did LOTS & LOTS of research and decided on the Nomad. Like Dan said, "it's not great at anything, but it is good at everything". http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif I plan on sticking with mine for a long while to come, after all, I've just about got it like I want it. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

The Nomad is a great value. The combination of looks, stock features, comfort, and reliability for the price is hard to beat.
No, it does not pin your ears back but it certainly has enough power to do what most of us need it to do (merge on to freeway, pass at highway speeds, pull hills, be stable in wind, corner well, cruise @ 70-80, etc.).
I know many of you squeezed some additional power with mods but I am happy with the stock set up....and I like having something different than the crowd...it starts a lot of conversations when I am on the road.
I think the reason Toyota has become #1 in the auto world is alot of the same reasons we like our Nads....decent looking vehicles, comfortable, good value, turn the key and go and go and go and go.
Although I must admit the Nads are much better looking in my opinion and a heck of alot more fun.
I keep hearing Nads don't get good gas mileage? I get 40-45mpg....isn't that in the same ball park as other bikes this size/weight?

I really love my 05 Nad once I changed the seat, raised the bars, added V&H Baggers and a TFI. Until those mods it looked great but wasn't the machine I needed for the long haul. It is definitely one of the best looking bikes out there. It's a shame the 09's didn't keep the same saddle bags..that's one of my favorite features.

I see a few Nomads around this neck of the woods and I may be seeing my old bike around sometime. The dealer that took her in as a trade sold it the following week. They said someone came in looking and as soon as they started it up he said "I'll take it" Gotta love those V&H baggers and the "Nad" itself. I'll stick with what works :)

I must confess that I am torn between the Nomad and the V2K. I know, I know, But, they both make me feel so good. Rich asked me for a comparison, so I gave him one.

It'll be hard, real hard, parting with the Nad when I find a buyer. But, I'm not trying very hard, right now.

Yeah I love my Nad as well. I was at the HD store to buy some boots this weekend. I was looking at a Ultra Classic while there. They are nice bikes, but the expense is huge, $23k. I figured out that for about $3500 I could turn my Nad into the same type of bike. That would put me at $14500. With a few other touches it would put it at $15000 and it would have more bells and whistles that the UC. I am very happy with my Nad. The UC is a beautiful bike, but the Nad has its ass.
