Sorry folks but i had to put them back in. Drilling those baffles out just took away that nomad sound that i have come to love and charish. Call me sappy if you want.

Not that I will ever put mine back in, because I like the new sound; but from a purely Nomad Tech standpoint, what method did you use to re-install them?

mine are at the scrap yard, no turning back now

<<Is their anything else I can do to get more rumble?>>

Cut the baffles in half (length-wise, of course) and bolt them back in and you'll get more rumble.

I used a Mig welder

I had a 2006 1600 with Vance/Hines baggers. The sound was Ok. Now I'm riding a 2004 1500 with Cobra baggers and they are much better, I think. Totally different sound, not as loud as the Vance/Hines with the baffles in.

Well towering,
I won't call you sappy, but I will say I have respect for you for doing what you want to do.

I have done nothing but fall in love with the sound of my bike with the baffles out. The more I ride it, the more I love it.

To each, his own. Just go forth and ride, that's all I say.

You're saying length-wise of course made me laugh - reminds me of some of the instructions on different things like phenergan suppositories - 'remove outer wrapping before insertion'. LOL

I rode mine across town today and love the sound!! I had to go to my Harley owner friends' house and let them hear the sound. They like it alot better too.

I'm very happy with the mod. Thanks for the instructions BD!!

Nothing make me happier than hearing all the positive results! Sappy is just expressing his opinion.....oops I mean towering! Sorry... Some like their ride real quiet. If I had a GW I wouldn't modify the exhaust just because its that kind of bike! Like putting headers on a Rolls Royce. A V-Twin to me, however, should have a strong torque thump thump sound. Not loud, just muscle......

I am going to come out of the closet here and admit that I plan to fish my silencers out of the garage trash bin and mount a plate onto them that will allow me to reinsert them and fasten them with screws when I want them in and still pull them when I want the thump-thump that BD and the rest of us love. My reason? Well the pipes are just loud enough with the baffles out that it is very difficult to adjust the squelch on my Chatterbox intercom to a comfortable level and will drive my bride, or as SWB says "supreme high commander" , nuts. Most of the time I will run without the silencers. Should not be too hard if I can get plates cut to fit and holes drilled and tapped for screws.

Sappy. And I agree, don't think I would call you that to your face. You look like you could twist a few of us into pretzels.

Idaho, the idea is to remove the baffle to create a "silencer". http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Observation:

When we make a change to our KAWASAKI then take it over to let some HARLEY owner see and hear what we did........does that make us Harley a want to be???

Just a thought
