Hey everybody, I just wanted to let you all know about a charity ride I made yesterday. I know it is just the nature of most of us to only bring things up when they run afoul and not mention the good things, so I though I would share.

It was the second annual Easter Seals "Ride With Me" rally and I had the chance to ride this year. I wanted to last year, but was too busy with coaching. We all met at 0830 and had a nice free sponsored breakfast. Around 0920 they announced that we would be leaving in ten minutes in groups of 15 or so, staggered by 10 minutes. I was a little alarmed that there was no official ride meeting that stated proper protocols and formation riding tips such as spacing and hand signals. However my concern were unnecessary as the 75 mile ride went near perfectly.

We went from Henrico, through Louisa, Goochland, Powhatan, Montpelier, and ended up in Ashland. There was bit of slinkying from time to time as the group could not closely regulate their speed very well. I blame that partly on the group captain, as there were several random slowdowns well below the speed limit for no apparent reason, especially as we went up hills( though on second thought maybe that is because most of the bikes were Harley's and they have a hard time making it up a steep hill.) The guy in front of me followed the guy in front of him a little too closely so I just extended my gap and kept pretty much a 3&2 gap instead of the standard staggered 2&1.

All in all, it was a great trip that ended with an awesome barbecue. Afterwords, I went to our newly opened Richmond area Bass Pro Shop and bought a nice new 9mm Taurus. In he parking lot I saw a nice 08 Nomad with ND plates. Already had aftermarket exhaust and the tach installed. Looked nice and cared for. I wrote Him a note telling him it was a nice bike and invited him to come check us out.

Very Fun Saturday.

That's great to hear. I did the Rumble through the Tunnels ride and I was not impressed. We were in the last group to run and it was chaotic in my opinion. I've done it once and that's it. Sounds like your ride was much more pleasant.

I wanted to add to the fact that I will be riding in the Richmond City Teddy bear rally for the Police. It is on nov. 1 at Colonial Harley around 830 am. Spoke with an officer that rides and he told me full police escort and approx 500 riders.

Sounds like a blast...too bad that I'm on the other side of the country!
