Last week I mentioned to Cliff (VulcanE) that I needed to do some scheduled maintenance, namely lube swing arm and drive shaft.
He said, "how about Friday and I'll come over and help." I said that would be great.....but understand "come over" for him is a two hour ride.
So, at 8:00am.....in 40+ degree weather, here he comes.
His bike is loaded with "things we need;" IE: Idaho jack adaptor (which is a nice piece of equipment and worked great), the correct lube, 22mm socket (that I did not have), hand made (by Cliff) extra long nose snap ring pliers to remove that pesky shaft C-clip, couple HD exhaust gaskets (which I forgot to pay him for) and various other tools.
After some hot coffee, we got into the job.
All went pretty well as scheduled and finished up few hours later.
The drive shaft was dry of lube so often mentioned in other threads. In fact, after test ride Sat most of the vibration I have felt rolling on the throttle in 4 & 5th gear has gone away.
Swing arm had lube that looked like a light KY jelly.
Anyway....I'm a firm believer in recognizing good deeds......and Cliff damn sure did me a good deed.
Thanks again Cliff. Could not have done it without you.

One of my goals...to learn how to work/tinker on the bike. I've got an old 250 rebel in the back yard that doesn't run, flat tires etc...people stop by from time to time and ask if we want to sell the old bike in the back yard...we say no that's going to be our learning to tinker bike. Anybody want to be my instructor?

Cliff, I have a guest bed waiting in Anaheim CA, along with all the beer you can drink (AFTER the maintenance is complete)..
Seriously, what a great story. Great to hear some GOOD news for once.

If you look closely at the map, you will notice Lincoln, Nebraska is the halfway point on the route to New York, Texas, or California. Might as well stop here first. :)

I just want to say "THANKS" to everyone for their kind words. Helping a friend is high up on my priorities. You know, it would be kinda kool to "wrench your way" across America. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

It really made a big difference after lubing swingarm and drive shaft. But we "forgot" to do the front end. Maybe next time.
I told Cliff it would be neat to travel the country and help those that "asked" for it on this thread.
Lets see.....Cliff does the work and I take those up on the "free beer" offer. Sounds like a plan!! :) ::) :)
Wonder why we never heard from catusjack? And beer is cheap in Arizona.
