Tis the season to clear out the old before the new arrive. I think the big bikes will be hit harder this year with all the economic issues and tighter credit.

I was at a local Kaw/Honda/Yam dealer yesterday. They had a couple brand new 2007 1500 Classic discounted to $8800.

They also had a brand new 2007 Yamaha Stratoliner S for $11,999.

It would be interesting to hear some of the deals others across the country run into.

I think MaKaw did a good job of cutting back 2008 production of the Nomad so dealers didn't get stuck discounting them when the redesign was announced. I am not aware of any 08's in stock anywhere nearby.

That's probably a good assessment of their strategy. There hasn't been any Nomads at my dealer since June or July.

It is too bad for Kawasaki's sake that they are having a huge roll out at such a bad time in the financial world.

+1 Dan.

At this point I am more concerned about being able to keep my 06 Nomad than about getting something new. :(

You'll be able to keep it. Unless you have a horse, you'll need it to get around 45mpg. ;)

The Kaw dealer I visit here in Nashville has at least three 2008 Nads in stock. Had them all year. :(

Sometime just before the Mesquite rally there was a couple in my dealer. I remember looking at the difference between them and my 06 (color of the passenger floorboard bracket was one).

When I went back at the end of July, they were sold. Perhaps with just dumb luck they ordered the right number.

Any time there is a huge model change, it gets hard to sell the old ones. Small changes aren't much problem, but any Kawi dealer that had a floor full of BUBF Vulcans were probably hurting when the classic came out.

Ron Ayers doesn't seem to stock up on new bikes much. I remember seeing a new black and red and maybe 1 or 2 used and they were gone before the summer was out.

Back in the summer I was at the local dealer, and they had a 2008 Nomad in stock. It sure was fine to look at with no bug splatter on it. I haven't been back to them since then, however, since I was looking for coolant and asked about the Kawasaki Pre-mix and they looked at me funny and asked, "What's that?" I'm sure I'll stroll back by in January, just to see what kind of deals they have on 2008 models.

When I bought my '08 in July, only one of three dealers in the area had one in stock (which I bought). Another dealer had an '07, but that was it.

I wish I had known of the upcoming '09 changes. One, I may have waited (but probably not) and two...I would have squeezed them even harder on the bottom line! That said....I do LUV my ride... http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif!!

The Kawasaki dealer in Minot, ND has an 08 red/black Nomad for $11,500. I was in there today, and they are pretty excited about the new Voyager.

Guys I live in Northern Arkansas and you'll have a hard time finding a street legal bike anywhere right now. there just fluing out the door. The Kaw shop has a custom 2000cc & a custom 900cc just alike. they call it the his and hers model. Its been a month or so but the Yamahaw shop was sold out.

I'd think inventory would be moving south about now. Or, maybe that doesn't make sense for the costs involved. I think I know some folks that would help move them for the price of a plane ticket home... http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I just bought a brand new 0 miles 2008 last week. They bought it at auction still in the crate. Lucky for me it wasn't the fastest Black, or the fastest Red but the Ultra fast Red/Black model. I had to stop riding it time to send it back for the 600 mile service. :'(

jonsamson,
Welcome to the board! Yes, you do have the Ultra-fast model, and I can attest to it! You've found a great place to be when you're not racking up the miles!
