I have 9,500 plus miles on my stock Bridgestones.
Was planning on ordering a set of Metzler 880's this next week or so.
Today at work...I noticed this while outside the office on a cigarette break.
Decided to park it till the tires come in...after riding the 60 mile ride home.
Going to go ahead and replace both tires.
Check it out...this is the rear tire's cords showing....Definetly time to replace....Don't cha think

Yeah....To be on the safe side....I'm Parking it.....Don't want it to blow at 70-80 mph.

Yeah, it might be a good idea to let it sit until the new rubber comes!

If you can't see any tread grooves in the center, let alone measure the minimum of 1mm, you might want to replace it.

Yeah...Slow miles...However, town is 8 miles down a highway to get there.
Gotta say...It's the most I've taken a rear tire down to.
I'd probably still ride it till I got new tires if I had not have spotted the cords showing thru.

When I replaced my tire early this spring it had an area of cord showing the size of my index finger. I knew it needed to be replaced but that was really pushing it.
I think you got your money's worth.....I ride em down like that too........

Yea but your tires get down to the cord in about 1200 miles hauling you ugly fat butt around! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
BTW I have 9500 on a stock tire and still have about 1/8. I bet I could stretch it to 10.5 -11K. And yes todd, that will be this year!!!!!
That may be true...but I like the tires to match my head !!!!
And...I'll believe the mileage will be done this year when you post a pic of your odometer.....then and only then you fair weather rider!!!!
Didjaget that tingly feeling on the back of your neck when you noticed the chord showing? I get it just thinkin bout it. Glad your OK.

Good thing you noticed that! That might have been ugly. I replaced my rear tire a month ago, because it was getting close to the same.
I suspect that no one here would let the front tire go that far.

I just replaced the rear tire on my Boulevard and it wasn't close to that bad. Definately getting the most mileage out of your tires. I have 8000 on my Nomad and the tires are still in good shape.Maybe they will last through the winter.

You only have two tires on that bike. I see lots of crotch rockets around here with tires that look even worse. And they still ride like they stole them.

REFUGIO, Park the bike... That cut/split is really bad.. If you must ride it to a shop ride no faster than as fast as you wanna crash..
If that were mine I wouldn't even do 10 mph..
Mine was worse, but no cut and at apx 8,000. Less really.

You're one to talk, Butt Ugly! After seeing your pics I'm still having nightmares about your hideous face! http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
And I'm with Todd, I seriously doubt you'll make 10k this year. It is the first day of fall and we wouldn't want you to ride when it's chilly, now would we?
Refugio, good idea on parking it. No need to put yourself in danger.

i thought mine were bald.
....fair weather rider!!!!
I thought that was the only kind of weather they had in California. He ought to be ahead of a lot of us on the ol' odometer.
