I've been talking with Robby at Pro-Guards (http://pro-guards.com/) about a set of guards that they make for Harley Davidson engine guards. He sent me a set to see if they'll fit on the Nomad. A set comes with 2 wider pieces, and two narrower ones.

I have a 2007, 1600 Nomad. To me, the wider guards fit the front and rear engine guards, the smaller ones seem way too narrow, and I can't get them on. He said he was able to get the smaller ones on, and sent me a picture. From the colar scheme (and what was stamped on the air filter) I could see that it was a 1500 Nomad. Also the front engine guard seemed like it was a one piece that covered both sides (the top of the guard went from one side to the other, whereas the front guards on my bike are two pieces, one on each side).

So a few questions, are the sizes of guards different in different year Nomads? For the 1600 Nomads, do the front and rear guard have the same diameter?

The Pro-guards themselves seem really nice. A good hard plastic to put over the engine guard. I can see using it when I do some slow speed practice so I don't have to fret about a drop while practicing.

I do believe that on the 1500s the front engine guard is a 1 piece, but I think it is a 1 1/4" diameter like on the 1600s. The bag guards are very similar, but not interchangeable (different part numbers), both are 1 1/8" diameter.

Foam pipe insulation works for that also. It is probably cheaper too. ;)
