headlight and spotlight visors

i just bought a set and in the process of putting them on. i got the spotlight visors on easily but the headlight instructions state that you have to "glue" it in. wha? i can see that you cannot slip it in under the headlight bulb like i did with the spotlights. but glue? anyone tried this? does it hold?

....yup, as crazy as it sounds. Glue it in???? WTF??? lol. I used clear silicone on mine, put it in place with some carefully placed wedges. I let it set over night and put it back in the bucket. Over time, with bumps on the road and such, it has slid down just a hair. This winter I will do it again but this time, on my brothers advice, I will use PL400 or some similar type glue and hopefully it stays in place. I guess cause alot of these visors are not brand specific, making them to mount to the headlamp ring of all bikes would be alittle tough. Perhaps there are some brand specific units out there I'm not aware of. Good luck! :)

i found some locktite RTV at lowes.....made a mess but glued it in none the same. we'll see how it turns out!

Uuhhh......... I'd stick with silicone and leave the pl 400 construction adhesive alone.

You can work silicone in with a finger dipped lightly in alcohol and wipe off excess with a cloth dipped in same before it dries. If you ever have to remove it it will be easier to clean off the silicone and re-apply.

....yea, well the trouble with silicone is that it stays pliable and is subject to movement when used in any quantity. When I installed mine, the visor did not fit perfectly to the contour of the headlamp ring. So there was always some tension on the visor trying to pull it away from ring. Silicone did not work for me. I will use the pl400 next time.

When I put mine on, you had to take the headlight nancel off, disassemble it so you could put the visor in, then a huge snap-ring went in to hold it in place. It hasen't moved in 3 years. BTW it was a Fire & Steel.

my headlight visor didn't want to fit correctly either...i put it across my knee to keep the oval shape than SLIGHTLY bent it in until it more or less went on easily.. i put it in until the lip of the visor was up next to the ring then held it there until i slathered the rtv all over it. i hope it works.

It's "nacelle" - but it did get past the spell checker.

When I installed the visor it would move up and down a little bit so I got some two-sided automotive tape and cut it to fit on the visor tabs. Worked real good hasn't move in 3 years

Same here with the Fire and Steel. The snap ring seems to hold really tight.

update...the RTV worked. put the headlight back on and seems to be holding nicely. i guess only time will tell!

Visors are my next mod. Sounds like the Fire & Steel is the way to go.
Pbad, that solo Nomad is sooooooo smoooooth! I really like it, the back end reminds me of the south side of a north bound full figured lady. You will all know when Debbie quits riding cuz Leroy is gonna look just like Pbad's ride. With some loud pipes!
