I found this and thought I'd share it. It's from an interview I found after a google search on the 2009 Kawi lineup----hold on for this one!

"After extensive market research, Kawasaki will be discontinuing the Vulcan 500 and the popluar Vulcan 1500/1600 Nomad. Kawasaki has determined that the majority of the people are turning to motorcycles for one of two reasons---economy or power. Kawasaki reportedly will focus all the efforts into the workhorse Vulcan 900 series and will continue to develop the 2000cc displacement Vulcan. Representatives from Kawasaki announced that the company feels these two platforms will reach the widest majority of consumers while minimizing production expense."

In an effort to support the current rider base, Kawasaki will continue to produce their popular "Fire and Steel" accessory line for all pre-2009 models through the end of 2010 at which time, they will no longer be produced by Kawasaki.

In addition, those reading this post have been had........

Gotcha. Just thought I'd have some fun and stir the pot.

Nah. You're not doomed, but. . .you need to put at least 1600 gremlin bells on your bike! ! ! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

P.S. That sure did sound like professional marketing verbalese.

08-20-2008, 08:06 PM
Good one TKD.....sounded real professional to me too...which is why I exalted you! Now behave...no more exalts for you! We all have our Nomads (like others have said)...so it shouldn't affect us too much right?

Blue Rebel
08-20-2008, 08:28 PM
Actually, with the sales Kawasaki has made on the nomad for the past several years, (if you look it up), they wouldn't even think of taking this off their market line.

When I bought mine in March, it was the last one the store had, the sales rep said they couldn't keep the shipments coming in fast enough.

I guess the part of the country you live in dictates the supply Blue Rebel. I was at one dealer when I was looking for mine who told me he could have any color I wanted in the showroom in 3 days. Apparently in Minnesota Nomads were fairly easy to come by this summer.

Again, apologies to all for the prank.

AND I just learned of the gremlin bells last week. Sad but true.

You had me fooled ...right up until this part: "After extensive market research...". http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

I definitely knew something was up when I read this: "Representatives from Kawasaki announced that the company feels these two platforms will reach the widest majority of consumers while minimizing production expense." This breaks the golden rule of press releases ...never ever under any circumstances mention that you are limiting your consumer product to 'minimize production expenses'. To a shareholder, this is a red flag. Instead, you have to use more corporate buzzwords to say the same thing ..."streamline processes to be more efficient and quality-driven".

Meh, better luck next time. :)

BikerBeagle,

What can I say. So you are the 1 person out of everyone who only got 1/2 way through the post before you figured it out. I'm still calling the gag a success.

I have to admit that I believe in Karma now. Maybe it's a coincidence, but this has not been a good week in many respects. I guess no more jokes.

He's referring to the Kawasaki going obsolete if they stop making them, not a Harley.
