As I plan on making my Nomad a solo rider during the colder months, I wanted something to lower or flatten the plate.

My main thing is I AM NOT DRILLING THE FENDER.

Anyone that knows for sure of a specific frame/kit that will be a direct replacement, please point me in that way.

I am not interested in the mousepad Ideas, or similar nature of just bolting to the fender. I know I will have to pay a little for it.

Just pm any kinks you might have or actually just post them for all.

Thanks,

Sam

Dennis Kirk has a "complete" unit for the Nomad that lays it down for about $79.

Just testing my boundaries. Can we pretty much use anything that references the 3 hole mount system?

Such as this
http://denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=&store=Main&catId=&productId=p493005&leafCatId=&mmyId=

Doc is this the one you were mentioning? Looks kinda plain and simple for that much moola

http://denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=&store=Main&catId=&productId=p499333&leafCatId=&mmyId=

This also looks like it would work.

Opinions? Ideas?

Thanks in advance

You'll pay a lot for anything that's from Arlen Ness.

I"m pretty sure I used the one Beezer posted and it works great. It is a 3-hole, but you only use the 2 holes in the fender - only problem I may have is the bolts I used being too long and afraid they'll hit the tire under loading. It hasn't happened yet, but I'm going to use shorter bolts anyway, the ones that come with the kit didn't work so I used what I had laying around. The curved one from Kuryakyn looks great too, can't go wrong with Kury.

Sam: your correct not all 3 hole license plate backs will just fit perfect on our Nomad. It has to be made for the Nomad. Some kits are just the backing plate and some are whole kits. Some have hidden bolts, and yes arlen ness stuff is high.

I put the curvy Kury on mine. I only used 2 bolts and some glue. Works like a charm. Even managed to use the stock rubber mount. It looks great and has been holing on for 6 months now

You could just make your own. As you can see in my signature, my plate is lying down. I took a plexi glass and cut it to size. Then, I used a file to round the corners. Drilled two holes and used a counter since to inset the screws. You can then buy one of the chrome plate covers if you want to dress this up. I drilled to holes at the top for the plate to mount to it. I took a piece of the soft side of a piece of Velcro and stuck it to the fender. I did this for my own peace of mind when it comes to any wind vibration back there.

spazz, welcome to the madness http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Where did you get the rack on your back fender. I have looked and can't find one made for the Nomad. Is it a modified Yamaha rack?
I also like the way you did your plate.
Also, is your bike a 1500 or 1600?

The 2 easiest ways I use to tell the difference between the 1500 & 1600 is the side cover and the tail light. They are quiet different. Another difference is the air cleaner covers, but alot of folks change them.

Good thinkin' VE. The tail lights are real different. Now if only spazz gets back on line to answer my other question ???
