What size of Metzeler ME880 tires can we run on the rear for the Nomad.
Stock Bridgestones are 170/70 B 16.........I can't seem to see that the Metzelers have that exact size. So what size works.

Also...Do we want Radial or Bias Ply.

Yes, a bit taller and wider. It made my speedo much more accurate.

I bought mine from the dealer because if I did, they mounted/balanced for "free". $420 for both m/b and out the door. I was sick at the time and it was getting close to the Mesquite rally, I didn't want to deal with it.

Next go-round, I'll probably order online and pull my wheels and have a shop do the mounting/balancing.

Running same size and I went with radial.

Corrected speedometer about half the 10% error

Same here 180/70/16 and I got them from my dealer. I think they are radial, will have to check that. It did correct some of the speedometer issue, and the trip indicator is now dead on accurate with my GPS with the speedometer is still of by about 3-4 miles.

Does anyone know if you will get more miles out of the radial or is it just a better ride ?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Michelin had recently come out with a radial for the front of the Nad to match the radial rear.

Thankyou ...... I've got a little over 7,000 on the rear stock Bridgestones.
Will be needing to replace very soon . It's getting wore down smooth in the middle of the tire.

Thanks guys.

My last 2 sets have been the 880's 180/70R-16 rear, and 150/80B-16 front. Although the ride and handling were vastly improved, I'm averaging about the same number of miles as the stock stones

So Metzeler don't make a front that is radial, is that what I am reading? Is it a big deal to have it mixed? I wouldn't think so since one is not made in the same brand and so many of you guys are running them.

im having no problem with radial back and bias front. have heard that metzler does have a radial for the front but very hard to get right now

I've had no issues running mixed, in fact if you go to Metzeler's web-site, their recommend tire set is the radial rear, and bias front for the 1600 Nomads.

Metzler does make a front radial now, it just came out within the last couple of months.
My shop did not have any front radails last month, but they do now. I have to get some tires, the rear getting slick and the front is noisy.

does this only apply to the later style 1600"s? will this tire size fit front and rear on my 2003
1500?

I got 12,000+ miles on both sets of Stones - will be switching to the 880's on the next set. Mainly for handling and to fix the odometer

ditto. Bike rode different due to the height of the tire, as well as the additional stiffness of the metzeler as compared to the stock tire. highly recommended.
