Newbie here...Looking to purchase a new Nomad, and I've read comments about black showing swirl marks and scratches over time. Any comments from black Nomad owners? Starting to think color combo may be the way to go to hide normal wear, although black and chrome looks sweet. Thanks for your comments everyone.

i have an all black nomad. initially i wanted the black & silver but was too impatient to wait for dealer to get another one in. i'm not dissatisfied with all black, though it does require more attention in terms of clearning etc., particularly the scuff marks I make with my boots on the tank. I'm a little short based on the bike's height so I have to really be careful when getting on the bike; sometimes I actually have to stand on the curb (like the one at the gas pumps) just to get high enough to clear the tank without scuffing it. For the most part I was ok with black because I plan to have it painted (at least some part of it) and black offers more flexibility in terms of designing how I want it to look when I get around to having it done.

I wish Kawa made a Nomad in solid black for 2005......I was too impatient to wait until 2006. Nothing in my book looks better than a Black and Chrome Nomad.
yeah Trip it does look pretty good - when i wash it of course! someone told me the other day it had a sleek look to it, I was so proud...
Black looks great when its clean. If you are really anal it will drive you nuts upon close inspection but most people don't look at it that closely. I'll buy any color as long as its black http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Kawasaki didn't use the cheap stuff on the bikes. My bike's color is black pearl ,2003 with a lot of desert miles and desert sun. I've had no problems with the paint. I wax the bike often and only use Micro cloths to wash, dry & wax.

Most people put on highwaypegs to rest their feet on. It saves a lot of wear and tear on other parts of the bike. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

Black is beautiful but as others have said if you look closely you will see little swirls and wear/tear marks even though I have garaged my '05 and meticously cleaned/waxed w/micro cloths for 2 yrs. Its just a hard color to hide stuff where green or red does a little better my 2 cw

05 blue/silver......an excelent combo, especially the view of the rear fender area with the chrome fillers.
still think all Nomads need something from the fenders down. Like chromes wheels or something.

'05 Black/Silver is the way to go! It's fastest, coolest and looks the best! Isn't that right Trip? Remember guys, Trip is the moderator and he has last say on this. http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif

Are you buying it to ride; or to show off? That's the real question. I got mine to ride. Mine's Black with red pinstripes, and lots of clear; if the tiny scratches ans swirls bothered me, I'd buff them with a fine polishing compound; but; as I said; I bought mine to ride, not show!

Both of my babies are black. Both my past Harleys were black. I only have one mar due to a drunk lady getting on my bike (without permission) and putting her foot on top of the hard bag to get on *!#)&^%! I've since added top rails to the bag for future protection. Go black, and you'll never go back.
I love the look of the black nomad, especially with extra chrome. However, I do wash and polish mine weekly to keep it looking nice. It gets dusty/dirty looking just sitting in the garage.
My poor blue Ford F-150 stays outside, gets washed every three months or so, and always looks clean.

I like to keep a protective layer of dirt and road grime on my bike at all times!
My bike is Balck and Silver but plan on painting it Orange one day.

05 Silver & Black for us!!! I don't worry about swirls; LOTS of wax!
I wish Mama Kawa made the Nomad in Pearl White though. Almost bought the 06 Yamaha Road Star Silverado in Pearl White before we looked at the Nomad.
