I have been a lurker here for several months, but with the recent sorrow and grieving for two fine members, I decided I needed to make myself known. I will always regret not having the chance to chat or meet Kilo and Chuck. You are all such wonderful people, though, and I want the chance to get to know you!!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

So, first I need to make a confession!!! I am not the current owner of the Nomad in my avatar :-[ That gorgeous 07 Nomad belongs to hubby! When he purchased it last October I started hanging in here to gather information for him.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y298/CheriKarp/Bike%20Rides/6-21-08St1MarysCity-12-1.jpg

He wanted to solo his bike and from this forum, I was able to recommend to him where to get his racks ~ hard bag racks and rear fender rack ~ so thank you!!!!

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y298/CheriKarp/Bike%20Rides/5-22-08_Thursday_Ride-41-2.jpg

I currently ride the Vulcan 900LT.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y298/CheriKarp/900LT/Cheri900LTPose-1.jpg

However, I LOVE the Nomad!!! What a huge difference in comfort and power compared to my 900!!!! In fact, when I get the chance, I ride hubby's Nomad!!! Proof:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y298/CheriKarp/Bike%20Rides/CheriOnNad6.jpg

So, I hope you will still welcome me, since I am only a Nomad luster right now!!!! I look forward to participating much more now!!!

Thanks!
Cheri

That's actually pretty funny.....I started riding last year with an older Suzuki Intruder 800 and hubby had already gotten that 900LT new for himself!!!! I lusted after that 900 and by October he decided he wanted the Nomad. So I sold my Suzuki, he got ANOTHER new bike and I got the 900.

So....now that I ride his Nomad and lust after it, his friends keep telling him he should have learned NOT to let me ride his bike after first time http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

When we return from rides, we park in the driveway and let the bikes cool down before putting them into the garage. I LOVE getting on the Nad to put it away, because I give it the throttle a quick blip and the bike LURCHES forward!!!!! Makes me laugh and feel giddy like a little kid!!!!

Pretty good guess the Navy base you're trying to say is in Millington, TN.

Navy base is still there...just outside of Memphis. Blue Angels did an air show not long ago there. I was born and raised in Memphis. Live 80 miles north of Memphis now since 1974.

Well, I am an easily excited kind of person!!! ;) I'll try to curb that down some in here!!! I'm no different at the end of the day than anyone else.....in fact, *looks around to see if hubby if near* hubby is usually fast asleep before I am!!!! ::)

Pretty good guess the Navy base you're trying to say is in Millington, TN.

Navy base is still there...just outside of Memphis. Blue Angels did an air show not long ago there. I was born and raised in Memphis. Live 80 miles north of Memphis now since 1974.

THAT'S IT!!!! Thank you! Geez....I should have called my brother and asked before posting that!!!!! ::) Of course, then I would have hurt his feelings that I didn't remember!!!

Growing up with a Naval pilot (my dad), meant we were ALL born in different areas!!! I was actually born on the Naval base in Rota, Spain http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I don't think I have ever seen anyone answer every "welcome" post the way you did. I think you set a new record. Tell me, do you crash and burn at the end of the day.

Nice, new avatar pic, rc. Very spiffy.

It sure is! I love when I can really see a person!!!

Look out Nico, she's a fast mover! LOL! It's nice to have you here. Didn't catch hubbys name.

LOL!!!!! I'm not ALWAYS fast!!!! I do know when to slow down!!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

Hubby's name is Chaz! That picture of him on the bike didn't do him much justice, so let me show a better picture of the two of us:

Now that is a very nice picture of you and hubby. Just be yourself; don't need to curb your vivacity one bit. BTW, if you go into your profile and change your avatar width to "75" it should fix it.

I think my problem is that I just LOVE people and motorcycles too much!!!!!

I also appreciate the tip on the avatar picture!!! It worked!!!! Do you think I can look as good as you do in your avatar picture?!

Yeah, that's kind of my problem too. I'm a motorcycle junkie, but I am a lot more reticent with people unless I feel comfortable with them and then only in small numbers. Your avatar is an absolute knockout.

Hey CheriAnn, I'm not a Nomad owner but I just wanna say welcome also. You are so lucky, you got a Nomad in the garage, even though you have to sneak it out! I only have a Harley....Poor me!!

Hey Guys, my search continues. I found an 04 today that I wish I could find the original owner and just kick their BUTT!! Why, Why, Why would you buy a bike like that and not take care of it. This one only has 8500 miles but some fool attempted to paint it. It was originally black but now has silver panels on it that are either full of trash, places with bubbles or rubbed off. The tape lines aren't even. The chrome pieces on the bags are coming off. The word Nomad on the bags is missing letters. One clue to how the owner treated this bike, the little yellow stickers on the bags has shrunk in size. That tells me that this bike set outside, never kept in a garage until this owner bought it at an auction. One thing, sounded good, ran good, but showed that it was not taken care of very well.

Anyway, back to my search..

Karen , What you describe could spell "bargin" if you are willing to to the work to bring it back.
One word of warning though, in case you aren't already aware, paint jobs are expensive. There still as are number of Nomads in the Denver area on Craigslist, last I looked, http://kawanow.proboards77.com/index.cgi?board=forsalewanted&action=display&thread=3653 and would be glad to have a look-see at any of them for you, but you would have to do the deal.
Note that the prices on Craigslist are "asking" and I'd bet you could do better.

I still ride when I can...in fact, after yard work this afternoon we took a ride out to dinner. Came out of the restaurant and saw a HUGE dark cloud in the sky with distant lightening!!!!! YIKES!!!! We hit some rain on the way home....why in the world don't they make windshield wipers for us bikers?!!!!!

Thank you! Another great state full of beaches!!!! I LOVE going to beaches!!!!

OUTSTANDING for your wife!!!! Once she goes to that class, you won't be able to keep her home and off the roads!!!! I VERY HIGHLY recommend the 900 for her!!!!! It's the perfect starter bike....it's not too heavy, has enough power for a beginner and gives her the feel of a bigger cruiser http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Here I go, hijacking this thread.....Hey BD and Ells, here is the link to the bike.

http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcy/778709037.html

What bothers me is that it does not look that good in person. The guy that has it is a car dealer and he has an office in front of an auto auction. So the bike ran thru the auction. Seeing things on it pitted and rough makes me think its been down. The funny thing is the black part of the bike looks original and the silver added then cleared. The person that painted it, didn't know how to paint. I think I could paint it better with a Krylon myself. I don't want to spend the money running the vin thru car fax

Hi CheriAnn. I don't think I gave you an official KawaNOW welcome when you joined, but if you'll pardon the belated nature of my greeting, I'll pretend that the 900 is just a "loaner bike" until you get a real Nomad. ;)

BTW, I'd owned 4 or 5 bikes before I ever got anything as large as even a 900, and back in those days even a 900 was smaller than they are today.

Best wishes,

vito

Hey CheriAnn,

Welcome, of course! I, too, had a 900 LT for 3 years till I recently upgraded to a Nomad. I couldn't agree with you more about increased comfort, better ride, and, to my delight, less noise. That 900 tranny whine drove me to earplugs. Thanks for the pics.
