Well I was turning around on a dead end street and ooops I dropped the nomad. I sure glad they put those guards on them becouse I only put a little scratch on the bag guard. I also found out that I aint as strong as used to be (suffering from a long friday night) that thing is one heavy dude any way after that I had to go to Gilhouly's and eat eat some oysters and a little hair of the dog and everthing was all better. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Glad to hear that was the only thing damaged. 800 lbs. on a leg would hurt!

Welcome to the dropsie club. As Wolfman says, "There are those who have dropped their bike and those that will". I didn't put much stock in that statement until I dropped mine with my wife on it. And you are right, thank God for the crash bars....Happy to hear that only your feelings were hurt.

When she goes... she goes. There's no stopping her. With regard to picking it up; just be glad it was level ground. Don't ask me why.

Maybe you should ck out the link on practicing "police" slow-turns within a 17 feet area(somewhere on KawaNOW recently -- just don't remember). Might come in handy to re-visit that skill.

Glad you weren't hurt though; nor the bike.

Yep, nothing more embarassing than with the wife on the back. The only thing you can say is hold on or bail, she's gonna blow!!!. Did it once and hopefully not again. (looking for wood to knock on).

Did you have some a-hole in a BMW behind you honking at you because you were blocking traffic? I could have wrung that jerk's neck. He stopped after he watched me pick my bike up.

Mine went down one day with my wife on the back before an audience of about a half dozen. She's got a death grip on my shoulders as I'm holding the handlebar and hollering " Let go" so I wouldn't pile drive 200lbs + of meat into her chest and stomach. Thankfully one of the guys helped us up. It was no surprise that there was not a snicker or grin. Everybody been there done that...or going to. I've had other bikes and I dropped them too. The expensive ones seem to hurt more

I dropped mine at Sturgis KY with a few thousand bikers looking on but it was all good they picked my bike up looked over it to make sure it wasn't hurt and then turned to me still laying on the ground and asked if I was ok. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

It can be very embarrassing, I was riding in a group of 6, turning into a parking lot off the street in a sharply banked curve and had to stop for oncoming traffic. When I put my foot down to hold us up (the wife was on the back) the bike had already leaned so far over that I couldn't stop it from continuing on over. It dumped us in the middle of the road, :-[ and was laying there almost up-side down on that banked curve. The guy I stopped for, stopped and helped me pick it up (and I did thank him). Nothing hurt except my pride and a scuff on the fairing. There were about 200 people watching. But it was a good reason to get the fairing repainted with flames on it. ;)
Like wolfman said, there are those that are going to do it, those that have done it, AND, those that are going to do it again!
texasfisherdude, glad all is good.

I'm glad I got it out of my system in the privacy of my back yard in the grass, no scratches, no damage, and best of all no spectators!

I once dropped my Harley in the backyard too, my ankle was caught between a small block wall and the bike as I was sitting there on my butt. I couldn't get into position to lift the bike so I just had to pull my foot out leaving loads of skin on the wall. Now that was a little more embarrassing because my neighbor was having a party with lots of people I know and they could hear me scream as I pulled my leg out. I'm still carrying a bad scar from that one.

Hey CJ, It probably crossed his mind that anyone who can stand up a heavy hunk of iron like that can probably wear my a$$ out!

So far, I've had only small audiences (yeah, plural but not necessarily more than two...)
