My bike has been making an intermediate noise lately.... I started noticing it a little, just now and then,,,,, but, now, it definitely makes the noise when I turn a hard left curve..... it might do it on three hard lefts in a row,,, then, not do it again for another 100 miles.... the best way I know to describe it is,,,, it sounds like my bicycle did when I was a kid, and the chain would get loose and rub against the chain guard...... I've looked for something loose on the bike, but found nothing..... it sounds like it's coming from the grearcase area,,, but, I'm not sure.........has anyone ever dealt with this, or have an idea what I'm talking about..... it's an 06 with about 38,000 on it... and, never really had anything done to it, as far as broken or repair needs...... thanks ronnie

What are the tires like? I had a horrible noise when turning that I thought had to be either the front tire or the bearings but dealer said it was all coming from a seriously cupped rear tire. I just replaced them both and man is this bike literally a sweet ride now!
Tires are usually said to "growl" and not "rattle" but then the vibration (from cupped tires) might be making something else rattle.

Mine, in a hard curve, sometimes makes a rattling noise, could even say,it sounded like radio stattic. It may do it in curves to the left or right, but mostly to the right, and only when your really laid into the curve. When I hear it, it's only for a second, sometimes maybe 2. I know I checked everything two and three times, and could find nothing wrong. When I heard it one day, I lightly tapped the front brake, and it immediately stopped. So, I figured it was the floating brake callipers, and nothing to worry about.

no,,, this noise I'm talking about is like metal to metal..... not a tire noise or roar.....
If it really sounds like a chain it would possibly be the cam chains getting loose. (Have you ever checked the automatic adjusters to see if they're at their limit yet?)
But disk brakes can make a metal-to-metal sort of scraping or grinding noise, particularly when in a corner, and particularly if you've never cleaned and lubed the wear points on the calipers or exercised the pistons well, or changed the fluid.

all of what you said makes sense, because I don't know about the auto adjusters, nor have I lubed anything on my calipers, nor changed the fluid....... sounds like I need a book and get to doing some reading up on this stuff........thanks
The book is indispensable, but lots of what you need to know is not there. The book only tells you what the factory knows, but the internet sites dedicated to Nomads and Vulcans will tell you much more. Particularly, check the links here for Gadget's website, and read the article about cam chain adjustment extenders. I think by now you probably need them but from your description (and bear in mind that describing sounds with written words is a haphazard business at best) I really do think you should check out the front brakes first.
